Thie scousers game on SS1 got me thinking of Newcastle town vs notts county in the first round of the FA cup in 96 at the Vic. Castle lost 2-0 but they put the shitters up county before running out of steam and eventually submitting to league opposition. If memory serves me it was £7 to stand on the boothen for this game. Did any one else go this game??

I went selling programmes outside main entrance, rained all day and i think it was on a Sunday if memory serves. It was on a Sunday. Can't remember the weather though. Remember the county fans calling for their managers head 'singing murphy out' Then the boothen end joined in and the county fans applauded.

We went in the Butler Street Stand that day without realising it was being used for the away fans.
The County supporters were friendly enough and spent most of the game calling for Colin Murphy to get sacked, it got louder after each goal.
Not many away sides got the whole Butler Street but I remember Arsenal also having it in the Coca Cola Cup in 1996 when we drew 1-1. Arsene Wenger's first visit to Stoke with Ian Wright's 'hand ball equaliser'.

Why did The Vic hold the game though? I've seen worse grounds hold game in the First round of The FA Cup.
