Is going to take a while to shake. Patience is going to be required, no doubt. I'd rather learn winning than learn losing. We did ok today nothing special but you can see its starting to come

We are about 6 or 7 matches into a new style if we count pre-season, another 6 together with improved strikers will see a major change. Already better to watch.

Patience required and patience Hughes and the team the get but and lots and lots to like again today but lets not kid ourselves some of our football is dunderheaded needless fucking nonsense and every bit of risible as anything under TP. The 30 seconds prior to Phillips half chance on 80 minutes was as fuckwitted as professional football gets.
Well done though lads, a very much deserved three points.

This is bit like the politics of the day, the Conservatives blaming Labour for everything that is wrong, how long are we going to blame everything on TP for? At least Les knew how to put things right at half time. The fact that he was able to, would point to the fact that the players he was left with are not as bad as some people on here are making out.

I didn't see much of the match today as I was working but my boy (13) sawiton a stream and when I asked him about the match he said.
First half was dreadful second half better with 10 mins when we battered them, just a regular match really. Out of the mouth of babes and all that.....

I must have watched a different first half. I don't think it was dreadful, but a nervous one. In front of the home crowd for the first time with a new manager try to play a different in a different way. I was encouraged and will try and accept mistakes as we make this transition. It wasn't the best for sure but i thought we were trying. The mistake by Ryan knocked our confidence and I know i will get slated but i thought the crowd weren't great in the first half as we entered our new era. Perhaps we were nervous too.
However what Mark said in the break must of worked because second half we were much much better and deserved the win. We can as TP used to say really push on here, with patience, new signings and time. The muted boos at half time disappointed me. It was a good win with very positive signs.
Well done lads and well done Sparky.

Is going to take a while to shake. Patience is going to be required, no doubt. Mark, If we play like that against a good side we'll get buried. I don't mind passing but this side isn't up to it. We played better today when we mixed it up a bit.

Why are we making excuses for Hughes? What exactly are we making excuses for?
I think, all things considered, and despite a few quibbles, we've started just about as well as we could have hoped for.

We were absolutely awful in the first half, there's no getting away from that. We were much better in the second, but I'm not sure I'd go in for the extreme superlatives that the increasingly loopy March4 has chosen to use. There is far too much pissing about at the back for my liking. It's gone from one extreme to the other and we just don't look comfortable doing it. I like the idea of the defence trying to play a short ball to a midfielder if they can, but if the ball isn't on then there's nothing wrong with a good whack down the channels. We don't have the players available to us to try and play some continental-style passing game, everyone knows that. Pulis has left us with a somewhat dysfunctional squad. We have midfielders who are suited to a midfield three, a strikeforce that's only suited to a 4-4-2, only one winger with any ability, and a defence that is so drilled to play hoofball, watching them try to tip-tap it about is like watching elephants attempting to tap dance. Hughes has inherited a mess, frankly. He's got a big job on his hands and we are going to have to be very patient.

Was never really our league position that was a problem during Pulis's time, we've always been a pretty solid mid table side. The entertainment value was a different story. If we finish in a similar position but played in a generally more attacking way, I'll be satisfied.

we were easily at our best when we showed some aggression and drive second half and both goals came when we got the ball into the danger area and played with some urgency ,
the pissing about at a snails pace football we saw in the first half was shocking

We do have to sort out our defensive organisation.
Good coaching and regular games should help in that regard.
