Is going to take a while to shake. Patience is going to be required, no doubt.

It will take the season at least. All these passing teams have been building for years.
There will be ups and downs but if we can progress our style and stay up then its a good start.
Next season we should be seeing better ball players and a team looking sharper and more competent.
It won't happen over night and will require the fans to be patient. That said a couple of forwards should see us safe, we pretty much ran the second half.

Trouble is mate, a lot of TP supporters that I know are working on the assumption that if he'd stayed then at least Premiership survival was guaranteed for another season. It's like they all went into hibernation from Boxing Day until the end of the season?

I didn't think there was too much wrong, Wooly? We hoofed it a bit, played it short, came and got it off the 'keeper, overlapped the fullbacks z few times and got in a lot of decent crosses. Our front 3 - and they were, at least during the second half - could do with a bit of sharpening; but as a system I think hughesy will probably be happy enough with that? You know what Our Tone would have said, we just need that little bit of quality, Nige

No club should have that aim but people thinking we will instantly become a better side and finish higher are deluded. We may do but survival during a transition is the most important. We bought players for one style and trying to teach them play another, its not easy.

Every year when Pulis was in charge it was 40 points first then see what we could do after, why should it be any different in Hughes's first year in charge? H

Second half was superb stuff and will have impressed any supporter of SCFC.
And we scored from lumping the ball into the box and a long throw!!!
Christ only knows what was going on in the first half, but great credit must be given to LMH for telling the players a few home truths at half-time. We went from our worst half of football for years to our best half of football.
With a couple of first rate signings, LMH is going to take us to a top half finish this season.

Transition....50 hoof/50 pass this season, with a couple more buys. Then, transition complete by end of season/start next. Beautiful carpet football, all players with Hughes stamp of approval, a good blend of up n coming youth.
Just wheel & deal well over the next week or so, and fingers crossed the seeds will be sowed

I think on a few occasions we over did it with an extra pass when the direct option was less risky.
Early days.

Worst half of football for years? Come on march have we got to put up with this shit from you after every match? That was the view of all the folk around me at half time, mate. The point I was trying to make was that LMH did a magnificent job transforming us from disappointing to first rate over the half time break. (Can we agree on 'disappointing' to describe the first half?)

As long as we play like we did in the second half then we will be fine.
It's all about tempo whatever your strategy is. Short pass or long ball. Do it quickly and you can damage teams. Do it slowly and you play like we did in the first half.

Basically, a TP team, bar our new LB.For a team playing altogether different tactics, under a new manager, and playing against a decent, newly promoted promoted side, I though today's game was very entertaining and shows promise.I am looking forward to the rest of the season.

Worst half of football for years? Come on march have we got to put up with this shit from you after every match? Everybody knows it wasn't the worst, most of the last 18 months have been worse. We controlled the game until the goal, didn't threaten but they weren't in it. They then controlled until half time. Second half was ours. March sadly is a grown man although you would find it hard to believe. He either lacks the basic understanding of the game or which I think is more accurate, he's a wind up merchant.

Do it slowly and you play like we did in the first half. Exactly. Well said!! I'm not sure how LMH transformed things during the half-time break, but he managed it. Let's hope we are through any teething problems and can now cement a place in the top half of the Prem.

To be able to turn a very turgid, slow performance into a direct (FOOTBALL!) performance with purpose and pace (even in a paceless side!) without the need for subs is impressive for me and should show the suits upstairs that he is definitely a manager to give money to and back.

I'm not sure why the OP is so provocative.
We have a new manager looking to play a different style of football so, understandably, it's going to take a while before he has the squad capable of playing exactly how he wants. If the point of the OP was to say that Hughes needs time and patience then I thoroughly agree. But, in my view, Hughes should be pretty pleased with the 'legacy' that he's inherited. It seems from the evidence so far that we have a group of players that have adapted pretty well to playing a different style. We also, in the main part, seem not to have lost some of the strengths that characterised the previous regime.
We still need a couple of extra players and Hughes needs to be backed but he appears to have a very solid foundation on which to work.

That second half was something for all of us to savour, however we liked our football played. They say you can't please all of the people all of the time, but if we carry on like we did for the 2nd 45mins then LMH will have managed it.

Just need two, maybe three better quality players in, and then we will be alright. Lack of pace is very obvious, and needs addressing,IMHO.
