Just a suggestion,if away fans are travelling for free would collections for the hospice be in order? if you got £1.00 per passenger over a season would be a tremendous boost to their finances.

What a great idea that sounds in theory - any reasons it wouldn't work - any DLT people on atm?? Or maybe a small umbrella of local charities??

I think this is a cracking idea and something i'd recommend to the club. Free travel with the option of a pound donation to the DLT.
I'm sure some DLT representatives would be happy to turn up for an hour before coaches leave to raise the money.

A brilliant idea E-mail the club: they're in the best position to get this organised.

Exellent idea , Fantastic charity but there are quite a few around the stoke area the money could be split ie Dauglas McMillan ,But I do feel there shouldn't be any need to give the cost should come from government ,I give what I can afford and feel better for it .

Not living locally, I only became aware of the DLT through the football club and indeed the work done by TP to keep them in the media spotlight.
This is a great idea, hopefully the club will continue the good work done in supporting them.

A brilliant idea E-mail the club: they're in the best position to get this organised. This. Definitely needs to be ratified through the club, however, the organising and collecting of payments would need to be delivered through trained and accredited volunteers, Police checks and paid management staff who would each require recruitment, interviews, training, clothing, insurance etc. Will the club be happy to pay for these people on top of the free coaches? If so fine. If not it becomes a fan initiative. If you've got 10 to 15 72 seater coaches all heading up to Anfield, that's a fair bit of work for a few people attempting to grab a quid off each of our away contingent. You all know how rapidly these coaches fill up, and then they're off. It's a good idea and a nice thought but to do it properly would probably cancel out the benefits. I'm all for charity and donations but while this idea sounds great, the reality is it's borderline unworkable. Additionally, I think its up to the individual to decide how they want to use the loose change in their pocket. If you need the free coach service then use it - it's a gift from the club. You'll be paying for overpriced drinks at half-time anyway. And if you feel like you want to give, just drop a quid in anywhere that you see a donation box. Much easier and more of your money will get to those who really need it. Life's complicated enough.

I think any more than 3 and the money wouldn't go that far. The three off the top of my head would be the DLT, Dougie Mac and maybe the SCFC Community fund? All local to the immediate area of the Brit and all do fantastic work.
Could You not just pay the money when You buy Your ticket? There'll be a box or something to click for free travel online and the ticket office will ask in person or on the phone. Say yes and just pay a quid extra through Your card or with cash. Then that through some clever accounting goes to a charity fund account and then is divided up at the end of the season.
Why can't it be that simple?

could just give the driver a quid a head and then he gives it into the club. were lucky enough to be able afford to follow our club, there is many people far less fortunate than all of us who can afford internet ect. DLT is a great cause and every little helps
