Thought he could have still played at a better level than that.

Thought he could have still played at a better level than that. Agreed, didn't he do quite well at Barnsley last season despite playing as a wing-back?

I suspect that Rory is one of those rare footballers who has put his family life before money. He could certainly have played a league higher but probably not without going to a club which was beyond daily commuting distance from home. A neighbour of mine, who is a Carlisle fan and knows some of their board members, knows that Carlisle were interested and is gutted that Rory has opted for a Midlands club.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Carlisle want him when he's finished playing - for a coaching/ambassador role - but if he's settled in the midlands I'd hope Stoke would offer something similar.

One of the most iconic players of our last 5 years in the Premiership, a great player, servant and professional. He never gave anything less than 100% when pulling on a Stoke shirt and his local charity work is above commendable.
A Stoke City legend who i thank for all he did for us and wish him well with his move to the Brewers.

I would have him here as a coach in a flash - consummate professional. Good on Rory, good he's staying in the area and I look forward to still being able to see him play regularly.

There was an article recently that said he'd had plenty of offers, including 2 Championship Clubs but he also had to consider relocating his family too

A non-Stoke weekend on the ale in Burton watching Rory play for the Brewers would be cracking.

He'll be the best player in that league, easily. It's so nice to see a player doing something motivated by family rather than money.

A non-Stoke weekend on the ale in Burton watching Rory play for the Brewers would be cracking. Indeed. Lots of nice pubs and a decent little ground with some nice terraces.

I was in Indonesia in 2007 and the locals seemed all to support Liverpool. They asked who I supported and didn't even recognise the name.
When I went back in 2009 they asked the same question and when I replied they - to a man - all made a throwing action and said "aah Rorly Deelap".
He made our name famous again and I wish him all the luck in the world. He is the positive face of English football. A total pro and a good man to boot.

Rory was one of my recent favourites at Stoke, he had a great ability to read a game and break up play, if he had half a yard more pace and could pick a pass...

True gent. Shame that he'll be remembered most for his throw, good on the ball, cool head.
BTW - if you can combine a Marston's brewery tour with a Burton Albion home game, you won't remember anything about the game :-)

Top top bloke and I for one will go and watch Burton a few times this season when we don't have a game. Some Burton fans at work this afternoon were over the moon with him signing for them and reckon he'll clear the the roof at the Pirelli with one of his throws.
