If the interview in today's Sentinel (see separate thread) is based on the McGarry interview then there is nothing to get upset about. Certainly nothing like some of the prophets of doom have predicted on this thread.

But he might as well said Cameron Jerome defines the parameters of avant-garde poetry for all the accuracy of his statement.

So local journo tries to stir some interest in the quiet time for football stories by spinning the story. Shock horror!
BTW is there a listen again link please?

The BBC front page has 'Jerome criticises Pulis regime' as one of its main stories, or at least did when I last looked.

"There's no guarantees [for places under Hughes] but before in the old regime, there was a guaranteed XI who played," Jerome told BBC Radio Stoke. Play media
"No matter what happened, how you trained or if you came on and did well in the games you were involved in, you were still never going to start."
Well he's not wrong is he?

Mardy and unecessary - Yes. Pretty accurate - Also yes. Let's be honest, Tone was never known for picking players based on form.

But in this particular case, I don't think Pulis was wrong either. Jerome is a great man to have on the bench. He's ten times more effective off the bench than when he starts.

Regardless of the merits of speaking out about it, Jerome should have had more starts. Crouch and Walters weren't cutting it as a pairing and neither were Adam and Crouch. Crouch and Jerome looked decent but only got a handful of games together. Hard to fathom.

This article is not too critical, doubt Pulis would have much to argue with there. Us and Cameron should move on now, Pulis is gone, MH is the boss.
Clean slates and all that.
I for one can't wait for the season to start now.

I never understood many of Tony's decisions and there are one or two other players that should have had more starts as well.

JUST SPOKE TO TP.HE WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO DID AND STILL DOES KEEP IN TOUCH WITH MESSAGES.HE IS DOING FINE,HIS DAUGHTER JUST GIVEN BIRTH TO A BABY BOY ! HE ALSO ON THE COMMENTRY TEAM FOR THE FIRST BT GAME V LIVERPOOL.HE MISSES STOKE AND WAS DEVISTATED TO LEAVE.HE LOVED STOKE PEOPLE AND STILL DOES. Awwww. I reckon he'd make a great pundit. I can rememver two occasions when he appeared on MotD2. The first was after we beat Villa 3-2 with Mama's trademark back-header. Dion Dublin showed their second goal and said 'that's just a great team goal, you can't stop that' and Pulis just said 'actually, it's a poor goal to concede, Amdy should have checked this run here' and so on. it was only a little snippet but it gave more insight into the match than a hundred years of Alan Shearer and Alan Hansen talking possibly could. Similarly, he was on last year and gave a few brief comments on Blackburn's defensive line against Man Utd, which completely flummoxed the rest of the panel. All jokes about TP aside, it's nice when you have a pundit who has some clue about what's going on and why, like with Gary Neville.

All jokes about TP aside, it's nice when you have a pundit who has some clue about what's going on and why, like with Gary Neville. I rarely get to see MOTD these days but watching Hansen, Lineker and Shearer is a bit like watching the first series of Star Trek. Watching Gary Neville on Sky is a different prospect and usually a fairly rewarding experience. The lad knows his subject intimately, he's passionate and challenges the conventional wisdom on familiar topics with solid arguments. I reckon he'd tie the BBC's old pundits up in knots. And to be fair, if the future of BBC football punditry lies with Mark Chapman, Colin Murray and Robbie Savage, i'd be a little reluctant to renew my TV licence as football is the only thing worth watching on the telly anyway. However a Pulis, Holloway and Di Canio MOTD triumverate would definitely re-ignite my interest.

Criticising someone who practices favouritism kind of criticises the beneficiaries of it too - so it was stupid to talk in this way. Those players are still Jerome's team mates.
