Quite an interesting read especially that he sees his best position as a centre back cant see when he will ever get a game at centre back with the options we have now though nesoccertoday.com/?p=20474

I think he'll settle for not being a full back now whether it be in midfield or at CB.

Although he has played in central midfield he was shoehorned in there by Pulis. However, I still can't wipe from my memory his appearance as a withdrawn striker

It's a bit worrying how he describes Tevez as "a stud"

I always thought this was the case anyway. Although he has played in central midfield he was shoehorned in there by Pulis. However, I still can't wipe from my memory his appearance as a withdrawn striker B- I thought he looked pretty good in midfield for us against Arsenal and his best recent performances for the USA were at DM after (as Bayern says) some ropey performances at CB and RB. He's been a bit unfortunate in that he can't have been at his best since Christmas given that his "pre-season" started in February 2012 but he looks to me to be more suited at CM than at CB. I hope Hughes sees him as a midfielder who can cover at RB in emergency.

He did Forny (not quoting because it's being a twat). TP picking Wilson over him at CB was about one of the major decisions TP got right last season.

I think he would have improved this season anyway - even under Pulis. With a new manager in place, a difference in style (however big or small) and a manager who promises to play the players in their natural positions then he, and other players, stand a real chance of pushing on with their games this season.
If Hughes just puts him in midfield he will already be a step ahead of being hung out to dry at right and left back last season.

Cameron's best position is defensive mid and it really isn't close. Unfortunately he never got a real run of games there under Pulis.
Recently last month during the USA's WCQers we had a Michael Bradley/Jermaine Jones pairing, which we've had for awhile and they pair very well. Jones got a concussion and Cameron replaced him in mid field and we didn't miss a beat. He and Bradley were so good a few USA fans want to bench Jones. That won't happen, but it says something when Bradley/Jones are lock starters at Roma/Schalke, Cameron replaces Jones and they didn't miss a beat.
But whether as a dedicated 6 or running dual 8's in a pulley system, Cam can't be the guy going forward. His passing from deep is underrated and he's damn aggressive at getting stuck in and challenging the ball. Physical presence and good with the ball at his feet for a DMid.

For me, that bit I have underlined could be written in a foreign language! Having said that I totally agree with the rest of what you have said. I'd probably agree with the underlined bit if I knew what it meant!

"But whether as a dedicated 6 or running dual 8's in a pulley system" Sounds good! I sincerely hope we have some American commentators on our pre season games over there!

Like you I think American commentators add to the "exotic" aspect of American "soccer".

"But whether as a dedicated 6 or running dual 8's in a pulley system" What a fantastic phrase...!!! I have worked the phrase out. Of course the numbers on the backs of players in the Prem don't mean much as players tend to keep their numbers once allocated. But you could regard a dedicated defensive midfielder as being number 6 or two midfielders who alternate in attack or defence (pully system) as two number 8s. Gotta love the Yanks - they and us really are nations divided by a common language.

Saw him playing a lot in midfield and defense for Houston Dynamo over here. I still think he's a better central midfielder -- better on the attacking side of the game than defending. Although it's his quality on the ball that leads a lot of coaches to want him as a ball-playing centre-half.

If N'Zonzi wants to Fook off I could see Adam and Cameron as very effective as a CM partnership.

I aint got a clue what a dedicated 6 or a running 8 system means, but it must be better than playing full back in a Pulis system.

He's not a first choice midfielder by any stretch of the imagination. Jack of all trades master of none I'm afraid.
