I happened to get talking to one of Walsall's trainers towards the back end of last season, his words were along the lies of Cuvelier's a good footballer, with a promising future but never a Stoke City player in a million years. That was obviously during the Pulis reign however so I dunno whether his opinion would be different with Hughes managing... He was fairly adamant that he wouldn't fit the Stoke mould at that time, I had no reason to doubt the fella either. Tbf anyone who watched him could tell You that. He's a 5ft 9"ish central midfielder! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif) And a good footballer to boot. To be fair, I've never had the pleasure myself. I'm just telling it like he told it.

I kinda got the feeling he just didn't want to disappoint me completely. That said, he wanted him back at Walsall and who knows, only way we find out what he's capable of is by blooding him at some point. Sooner rather than later hopefully.

Just remember that Westwood at the Villa was bought from Crewe when they were still in Div 2, and he looked pretty capable in the Prem. Of course Stoke fans are notoriously fickle and demand guarantees that a 21 year old whom the previous manager could, not be arsed to give a chance to, immediateley shows that he is Jack Wilshere II, otherwise he must be crap. Give him a chance -actually seeing a midfielder who might be able to beat a man, pass the ball forward and may even have a shot may make a welcome change from the garbage that has masqueraded as a midfield for thelast two years.

I have no idea whether he is actually good enough. I've only seen him in bits, but anyone who's played football will know that when you play with poorer quality players it can bring you down to an extent, you expect the run to be made, and often are one or two steps ahead of every other player on the pitch, and in turn makes you look a shit when it's the lack of quality players around you.
I think it's great to give experience in the lower leagues, but I don't think you can always judge them on performances there, especially for an attacking, creative midfielder playing in League 1.

Cuvelier did come on as substitute for Posh in their game against Watford. I was there. He came on with about 15 minutes to go. Posh midfield were tiring but they were 3-0 up. He ran about like a headless chicken but never really got involved and Watford came back to 3-2 and nearly equalised. He didn't come on in any more matches but Posh did have a lot of midfield players and were on a good run.

I saw cuvelier last night and I can't believe how small and slight of build the lad is. I'm not surprised tony couldn't see him in the premier league maybe Hughes thinks differently.

And like JStoke7 says, tricky to shine in the first division. Get him in and around our first team squad and he may well prove to be a good lad. Really, if you read between the lines, all I was told was that he lacked a bit of physicality. Not really a big problem if you've got lads around you who'll see you right, especially if you've got some of the wonder stuff about you! ![(bravo)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/aX_EnhrKOKv0Zc_aN8eF.gif) I'll look forward to seeing more of him

I remember when Louis Moult scored for Bradford and people were saying "Get him back, he's better than anyone we've got" Oh how we didn't laugh. Tell you what, if we'd just signed a kid from Walsall (League One) everyone would be saying "well that's league one, what the fuck, must be one for the future but i can't see him stepping up though. Seems a stgrange one, he hasn't pulled up many trees down there has he?" However because he's already on our books, GET HIM IN! Give him a chance Pulis, i mean Hughes(y)! Players on our books who play for us get shit after shit after shit. That's a lot of shit, trust me. Players on our books who don't play for us become amazing, the answer to all our problems, the way forward, the light at the end of the tunnel is the light of an oncoming train. It's true, honestly, i don't lie...Glasgow has to play next season, Ness & Cuvelier in midfield next season with Eve in goal and Nathan Ricketts-Hopkinson up front. FFS sort it out Pulis, sorry, Hughes(y)! For what it's worth, I recently sat on an FA disciplinary commission with a former Walsall pro. who is still involved with the Club. His opinion was that Cuvelier was a very good player at that level but he didn't think he can be a Premier League player. His opinion, not mine. I don't have an opinion, never having seen him play. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif) )Slozeneger. I think there is much truth in what you say.

Anyone who has seen Ben Glasgow play for us and wants him to play for the first team is either blind or just a numpty!

People need to forget about this fixation with size. It doesn't matter how big you are, it's how good you are. All Hughes can do is give him some good game time in Pre-Season and make a judgment on him from what he sees. I'm sure he will.
The rest is up to the player.

We can debate whether he's good enough for the Premier League until the Vale finish their new stand, but until we see him play in the top flight, nobody actually knows.
He looks pretty promising in that little montage and whilst it doesn't prove anything, at least he doesn't play like Ant Pulis the day after he stayed up until 3am drinking absynthe and reading "How to Play The David Rowson Way", and there are several players who've appeared for us in the Prem who couldn't display that kind of ability in any division.

Can't think of too many of the central midfielders we've had since we've been in the premiership who'd see the pass at 3:06 let alone execute it.Certainly appears to have vision and ability on the ball.

Give him a chance in some cup games and if he makes it there then keep him with the first team and see if he can impress from there. Its an area we have plenty of cover for at the moment.
