Cattermole is shit. Injury prone, average on the ball and a walking red card.
No thanks.

Lee Cattermole is several lightyears behind Glenn Whelan. That tells you all you need to know. And he's an absolute twat to boot.

Cattermole is actually a very capable footballer. Breaks up play, and passes well. Based on ability, i'd have him here in a heartbeat. As others have said though, his brain often takes a break during games. Seems to be injured quite a bit too.

Top scouting Carto :) :) Well firstly they are what they are at the moment paper rumours, but you do realise that the manager can identify players that he would like as well? I know this doesn't sit well with you as Cartwright has become your new Scholes but it's a fact none the less. H

Rose left back, get a decent right back and switch Wilson to a holding centre midfielder with nzonzi, get a couple of decent wingers and a new striker and happy days.

Why do you think Blunderland want rid? H No idea RAF but it could be to release funds for the new manager or he has given hints he will not renew his contract so they want a fee before it ends ? Just because a club wants rid doesn't make a player shit etc You only have to look at us with Fuller as Pulis cast him aside when he had so much to offer us Different managers prefer different players

Ireland is a strange one mate He was on loan to Newcastle two seasons ago and hardly figured for them so that's another team who didn't fancy him ? But at 26 if he could get that Man City form back he would be quite an asset He also refused to play for his country so you suspect attitude

That coupled with the fact he clearly brings a bit of baggage gets a no fom me even if it could be done on the cheap.

Now just for the nitty gritty bits like finding the suitable player, agreeing a fee then agreeing personal terms. "Pull your finger out Mark Hughes"

I would say Cattermole is a slight upgrade on Whelan. His passing is better but on the flip side he's far too reckless and gives away needless fouls. A pairing of Cattermole and Nzonzi would be a walking Red card every match. I wouldn't mind Cattermole for 4m but his discipline and injury problems probably mean we could find someone more reliable.
Rose would be a good addition in that he offers something completely different with his pace and attacking intent. That does leave him vulnerable at the back at times but at our level there is always going to be some drawback. He will probably go to Sunderland but would be a good signing if we got him.
The likes of Ireland, Bentley and Santa Cruz we shouldn't touch with a barge pole.

But at 26 if he could get that Man City form back he would be quite an asset He also refused to play for his country so you suspect attitude Just on a point of information, Ireland was injured at the start of his loan to Newcastle and didn't get fit until April - after which he played two games. So it probably doesn't tell us much about his ability at the time. I can't make my mind up. On the one hand he is a player who the words "damaged goods" could have been invented to describe. On the other hand I suspect his problems are mostly inside his head and, if a manager, could get that head right, potentially, there may still be a huge talent still there and he's still only 26. He's a bit like Pennant x ten. Superb player, hampered by a tendency to self destruct. You can see why a manager might be tempted. If he really is on a free and doesn't want a signing on fee and if a heavily incentivised contract for 1 year plus possible extensions, can tempt him, then I can see why Hughes might think it was worth the gamble.

Good post that mate He is definitely somebody I would take tbh and is worth a gamble Going back to his Newcastle loan he was one if 2/3 players who were out drinking until 5 in the morning whilst out injured ( Leon Best ) another and they were fined heavily by Pardew
