We desperately need centre back cover.

Centre back cover is not essential. Wingers, striker then full backs long before we should be looking to centre halves.

We've needed a centre back since we let Upson go out on loan, it's up there with a left back and a winger for me. Even strikers aren't as essential as we have 2 who could still probably keep us up if needed. I think we need a minimum of 6 or 7 new players anyway.

Huth,Shawcross,Wilson,Cameron but two of those are not ideal OK we need a CB preferably a young one
I think we wont see any wingers now unless Bently is one

If Hughes is going to play proper wingers then we're in massive, massive trouble if we don't buy one.

And I hope, our pool of wingers at best looks iffy.

If Pulis had stayed I think we would be signing a left and right winger, Erik Pieters, a centre half and a striker (to replace kenwyne)That's 5 players we NEED. If we don't address this we are in big trouble. Pennant has resigned which is the right wing slot taken in Hughes' eyes. We must buy a left winger. This should and needs to be a busy summer in terms of transfer activity but all the noises coming from the club and manager are that there isn't going to be much happening. very worrying. Especially if the few we do sign are the likes of Bentley, Santa Cruz and Ireland.

1 full back a midfielder a striker (& only if Crouch or Jones go) we have 4 wingers, yes there are quation marks over all of them but we do have them if we sign a left back Wilson can play midfield or right back yup 2 to 3 players in which case huge fee for one player - who wont command insane wages - might not be as unlikely as otherwise it might seem Surely there is more than just a question mark over one or two of our wingers. For me we need: Full back Center back Midfielder (x2 if we get rid of Adam or Nzonzi) Winger, at least one, preferably 2 Striker x2

We need one more winger minimum.
I wouldn't mind the same defence as last season in all honesty. A new striker is required IMO.
What centre half who is better than Wilson and Cameron (international CB) is going to come and sit on out bench?

Cameron is poor there and although Wilson did well generally in his stint at centre back he was directly at fault for 2 goals. They also will be needed for other positions. We need a centre back.

No, we prefer to spend that amount on 2 or 3 players instead trying to find a good one that will fit for a bargain £5m, or at least we did. Why not just go for the man that is sure to improve you at a higher price. £12M is nothing these days for a classy player at 21 with his best years still ahead. 12 Mil isn't nothing to us though, it would be a big chunk of our budget and given the state of our team we need to avoid spending it all on one player. if we are spent up and the squad is as you say in a right state then it just highlights what a royal cock up pulis made because when he was spending £18m on a 31 year old immobile forward we didn't need & a player not even a shadow of his former self we could if been purchasing younger players with potential. If u are suggesting 12m is huge for us then it makes the above deal in the whole, pathetic. And to think some people wanted pulis to stay on!? Jesus Christ the mind boggles.

£12M for a player from Scottish football - if ever evidence was needed that the extra Sky TV money was going to be wasted by clubs on players and their agents, then here it is.

I don't think we are spent up, but I do think that 12 mil would be more than half of this seasons budget, you're right though Pulis did make a cock up of the playing staff, he worked miracles being able to keep them in the league though.

Yes I'm sure you would never have wanted Henrik Larsson would you March? H He's had a half decent season in a very very poor league, yes he did well against Barca but all players try to raise their game against then kind of teams. £12 million is in my opinion £5 million too much for a player who is yet untested in the prem where he would be up against players of a hell of a lot higher caliber week in week out and not just the odd game here and there. Celtic only paid £900,000 for him so even at the £7 million mark its still £6 million more than they paid, maybe if the rumors that they want Walters are true that might give us the bargaining edge that the others don't have. That said I'd love to see him here but lets not spunk money on what might be.

Scholes will balls the deal up anyway. He'll probably send Wanyama an email saying 'Due to a colleague and his wealthy family, we have £12M for you along with £40k per week. All you have to do is call us with your interest giving us your full name, address and a copy of your passport'

In recent years, those splashing the cash in June have been the ones with relegation worries come the end of the season.

I would thought it more important how GOOD a player he is, not necessarily the league in which he is playing - skills like pace, ball control, vision, shooting ability can be demonstrated at any level. To be honest, you would not pay much attention to US players if you took into account their league standard. Similarly, the Balkan leagues, the Scandinavian leagues, etc
