That would be fantastic, a 10 hour drive but would love to see the boys play in Philly.
Are you you chaps thinking of heading to Texas for the games?

twitter.com/UnionRumors reports the game will be scheduled for July 31st, which is the same night as the MLS All Star Game in Kansas City. Would be great to meet up with some of the US Stokies. The stadium is half way between Philly and Wilmington DE. I travel to this area frequently for work. I would recommend making hotel reservations as soon as you make plans to attend the game, the better hotels on the 95 corridor sell out fast during the summer months. You do not want to stay at any of the hotels near the stadium!

'They have already confirmed that they intend to play one game at the Britannia Stadium against continental opposition which is now likely to take place on Saturday 10th following the news that Port Vale will be away from home on that occasion'
Is this Brugge?

Couldn't really justify the expenditure, Shippers! I'm saving up for the next Europa League odyssey - surely a matter of time under Hughesy

Where are we all meeting, sitting lads? Looks like a bit of a trek from Central Philly, as the stadium is in Chester and its isolated from most bars. Might be worth picking out a bar in Philly or Chester for a meet up, then traveling in on the local transit or shuttles. Either that, or get to the stadium early and grab some beers in the parking lots for a bit of tailgating with the locals.

Tailgating might be the best shout (seemed to be the main approach last year) - looks like Lot C would be a decent place to congregate (or that grassy bit of Toyota Plaza it refers to). www.philadelphiaunion.com/ppl-park/public-transport-directions-parkingA shame they no longer play at Lincoln Financial - just south of downtown Philly and very easy access by road or transit.

Anyone got seats yet?
Tailgating sounds a great idea, this is not a particularly good area. The town of Chester is not exactly on the tourist map. Best to stay at PHL or closer to Wilmington.

this is not a particularly good area. The town of Chester is not exactly on the tourist map. Best to stay at PHL or closer to Wilmington. You're not kidding In 2010, Chester had 24 homicides, and a homicide rate of 64.3 per 100,000. The high homicide rate in 2010 prompted then-Mayor Wendell N. Butler, who previously served as the city's police chief before becoming mayor, to implement a "State of Emergency," implementing 12-hour shifts for the entire city police force, assistance from both the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the Pennsylvania State Police, and a 9PM to 6AM curfew in five of the city's crime hotspots.[citation needed] The "State of Emergency," which lasted 34-days, coincided with the opening of PPL Park, but was sparked due to the murder of a 3-year old toddler in the city's crime-plagued West End (between Lamokin Street and the western borders with Upper Chichester Township and Trainer Borough).[citation needed] The city had 14 homicides in 2009, 17 in 2008, 27 in 2007, 18 in 2006, 15 in 2005, 19 in 2004, 12 in 2002, 19 in 2000, and nine in 1999.[14] The city did not record crimes in 2003 and 2001.[citation needed]
In April 2011, a birthday party shooting left two dead and seven injured, making national headlines

Definitely the kind of place where you need to keep your wits about you and stay aware of your surroundings. Having said that, so is Philly...

I inspected a multi-family residential complex there a couple of years ago for a bank. An interesting property! There were a lot of bullet holes as I recall.

Definitely the kind of place where you need to keep your wits about you and stay aware of your surroundings. Having said that, so is Philly... Don't worry too much. Chester is a rough town, but the common sentiment is "don't mess with the stadium." The citizens of Chester know that the new stadium and its MLS team represent a lot of money going into their economy. Not a single fan has been subject to any crime yet and they have really respected the stadium along with its immediate grounds and parking lots. As for visiting the city, just stay in Center City around all the touristy stuff and you'll fine that its incredibly safe. I'm really looking forward to this game! If any of you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask.

Also, any recommendations on the best section of the stadium?
