Is t the start of the season yet though? So comparing sales to now with total sales last year is skewed to make a point and isn't correct lets see where sales are come the season start when we have a couple of players in and couple off the books. After 7 years of knowing what you get with tone, the uncertainty of a new manager is bound to make some, shall we say, more casual premier league fans, apprehensive of committing g to the club for the new season

Is anyone really surprised that all those who said they will not renew their st while tp was still manager have not bothered to renew? Or just maybe all those who came on here claiming they werent going to renew their st didnt actually have a st in the first place?

Or just maybe all those who came on here claiming they werent going to renew their st didnt actually have a st in the first place? Some people clearly have renewed because Pulis has gone. At least 500 people according to that article because 1,000 people have so far bought season tickets in the first 2 weeks of the mid range price compared to about half that many in the whole of the mid range period last year. I make it 2000 Mike.
2500 down after early bird sales but 500 up on mid price sales.
I wonder how many of the remaining 2000 are still wavering, and what it will take to persuade them to renew?

A very positive spin by the Shitenel on a not very positive story.

No mate if 16,500 represents a fall of 15% on early bird sales divide 16,500 by .85 and you get close to 19,500 as the early bird sale total last year. So 3,000 - 500 = 2,500.

It isn't exactly 15% mate, we sold around 18,500 officially early Bird last year, so around this point last year we had 19,000 we curently have 17,500 leaving us 1,500 short, hopefully we pick another 500 up ready for the final run in, think we will have around 18,500-19,000 ST holders next year so it will be entirely dependent on performances and football whether we sell out next year!

Not exactly 15% is probably right but your numbers would mean only an 11% fall on early bird sales. Why would the club say it was 15% if it was only 11%? Its a substantial difference! I think we can safely say that at this moment in time we are 2,500 short on the same time last year but a better time to measure will be after close of mid range on 30th June. Pulis going has closed the shortfall from what it was going to be, but it is highly unlikely that we will have as many season ticket holders this coming season as last. BM

If the club hit their figures then they could well end up with more revenue than last season due to the fact that people will be paying more for the same seat. They don't even need to sell the same amount as last season. Genius.

I'm not fucked if the part timers dont come back - will make queueing for overpriced beer, burnt/frozen pies (mark as appropriate) and a slash easier.
Anybody saying they werent going to renew 'because of Pulis' is full of shit - any excuse. Cost reasons fair enough, other pastimes/work related shifts and stuff is all fine as work/family come first, not going because of a manager was a shit excuse, and born out by having gotten what they wanted they havent exactly ran to the ground to renew.
We saw a lot worse shit in the 24 years prior to getting promoted (with 12-15k crowds), and no doubt will see worse in the 24 years to come - if I am alive and can pay for a ticket I will be there though!

BM Whatever the exact figures, we look as though we have picked up about 500 of the 2,500 or so we lost on the early bird sales. That's good news but there is a long way to go before we get close to the number we lost on early bird. I hope/expect there will be another surge as new players are brought in but I would still expect a shortfall by the time the season starts. Ironically, if the shortfall is, say, 1,000 at the start of the season, the club will not have lost money as the drop in the cheap early bird sales, will be compensated by a rise in mid price and full price sales. But, even if the club does not lose money they'll have to work harder (and keep their fingers crossed) to make up a shortfall of, say 1,000, ST sales at the start of the season. How things go beyond that point will depend a lot on what sort of start we make to the season. Fingers crossed for a good and entertaining August. EDIT: Incidentally - surprise surprise - TalkSport have got it totally wrong and just announced that we have sold more season tickets than last year. What a shower of sh*te that station is.

Does it make sense to set the season ticket numbers debate completely in the context of the Pulis=>Hughes succession?
I wonder if some of the numbers are explained by other factors such as continuing pressure on domestic budgets and boredom/complacency, call it what you will, through the Premier League and better players no longer being a novelty and 'pipe and slippers' finishes to the end of each season being the norm haven't helped the excitement factor much either.
In those circumstances the fickle will flee. Just look what happened to Blackburn and Bolton's attendances in the last few years of their 10 year tenures in the Prem.

I have now renewed because Pulis has gone, and I've no doubt many others have done the same, so to call us full of shit is plainly wrong, as we've acted exactly as we said we would.

Don't let you love affair with Pulis and your hatred of Hughes get in the way of your brainpower, will you.

not renewing because you don't like the manager is a poor excuse I had no feelings either way for Tony Pulis; I never met him and actually though he was a decent bloke. I didn't renew because I'd had enough of the tedious, scared of losing brand of football he had Stoke playing. When he went, and we appointed Hughes, I renewed. I also have no great feelings about Hughes. He doesn't seem to be a particularly likable chap , but again, I'm never likely to meet him, so I don't care what HE's like, as long as we give it a go on the pitch.

Only 500 people have renewed since - some of those maybe for logistical purposes - hardly a massive movement given volume of noise on here about not renewing etc.
I still think its a fairly fickle and poor excuse not to renew. We support the team and club, regardless of who is in charge?
Otherwise you might as well go to the theatre and watch Priscilla or some other nonsense if you want to pick and choose when to be entertained.

I'm quietly confident that we won;t be down on last years ST sales.
We started a bit behind this season but over the course of the summer I think we'll catch up.
No doubt a couple of signings (and some pre-season wins) will get the ball rolling again.

I can't stand hughes but will still go and support the lads and the club. I renewed early and still would have if Pulis had gone and the tosser had come in before hand.

Wrong, about 1,000 people have renewed in the mid price period and about 500 of them are probably amongst those who failed to renew at early bird prices.

But you could also say that 5 of them are probably amongst those who failed to renew early bird. There is no evidence to suggest how many of them are fickle and how many are not.
