Definitely 1 for towards the top of 'Sparkys' in-box I would think.
Players who have been with us for 6 months and in some case up to 2 years who are notionally at least Stoke City footballers but either play no football at all or ply their trade elsewhere.
Wilson Palacios leads this group but is ably backed up by Maurice Edu, Florent Cuvelier and Jamie Ness with Brek Shea and Jack Butland the latest joinees.
It just seems like a lot of talent, and expense, to be stringing along while they contribute nothing at all to the cause, not their own fault of course, but you just think to yourself if we need to place a few bets on these lads one way or the other.

I would guess Sparkys problem is fairly similar to ours, in that he hasn't seen most them play enough recently to form a good opinion. He'd need to have a good look at them, particularly Palacios and Ness. At least Cuvelier and Edu have been playing elsewhere, so he'll be able to see some footage.

He has time to see them before we need to register the squad, don't think it would take long to assess those who will make it from those who wont

If I didn't know better I would assume you are suggesting that Jonathan Walters all-action-human-dynamo displays for the club don't actually qualify as 'football' and that he should join the list for consideration

He shouldn't have pre conceived ideas of anyone, everyone has an equal chance from Palacios to Huth

They contributed nothing to the cause under TP, but it may be a completely different story under Leslie.

The one that always annoyed me and showed the capped one off to a tee was - Mama. I know he is widely loved and adored but, seriously, he's never a Prem player in a month of Sundays. Fair enough, cover for the first season, just in case we needed to revert to a hoof and flick on (which we did) or a big header from a Rory throw in he dying minutes (v Villa). but TWO contract extensions (and I wouldnt have bet against another under TP) FFS Two and a half years on the treatment table (and he wasnt exactly Lionel Messi) he's not this level, maybe even not championship level any more, and he has become a multi millionaire courtesy of Stoke City whislt contributing virtually NADA. - Astonishing, truly astonishing.
