Hey guys,
New poster on the board but I've been reading for a long time. The reason that finally got me to join is the fact we appointed Hughes. I'm concerned about him, the fact he hasn't done anything noteable in his last two jobs at all! Here's hoping he will be a success, I just don't think he's the right man for the job.
Hopefully he brings in some decent signings though, time for 'hard working' players to be swapped with players who have ability.

You'll get shot down in flames for being concerned about Hughes, I made a similar point regarding him becoming our manager. Two signings I hope we make are Phil Bardsley and Jonjo Shelvey, got abuse for suggesting them but they'd be massive upgrades on the current squad, we're Stoke FFS. not Man City. Shelvey adds an eye for a pass as well as a goalscoring threat, Bardsley adds pace and power down the right and would form a good partnership with Walters, one problem Walters has had this season is that he has had to go solo due to having no RB bombing past him, Bardsley would allow this and would come cheap due to his falling out with Sunderland.

The only question to which Bardsley + Walters on the right is the correct answer is this:
How do we ensure we create nothing on the right hand side?

I personally quite like the idea of Bardsley since he'll be going so cheaply. He's an improvement on what we've got. Think we need some decent foreign talent as well though, how about Lamela from Serie A? Probably in dream land but we have to aim next level to get anywhere.

Shelvey is 1 of the worst footballers I've seen plying his trade in the Prem. Awful touch, positional awareness is terrible which is the main cause for his bad touch because he just doesn't seem to be able to read where he thinks the ball is moving too. We might be SCFC FFS!! but I'd defo give that 1 a miss.

May as well stick with Wilko if we were going to go for Bardsley, the reason we didn't have a full back bombing forward was because Pulis didn't really want it happening, the best way to sort it out would be to get a good left back in and put Wilson on the right, and we need to keep away from Walters on the right as well, he's not good enough for that position, cant go past a man (or at least I don't recall him doing it more than once last season) and doesn't posses anything more than an average cross.

Heard from a close mate that we are interested in De Ceglie and Niang from Milan, the latter being on loan. De Ceglie and Bardsley solves the full-back problem, Crouch in behind Niang, bring in Shelvey, Sinclair and Hoilett and we line up as; Butland Bardsley - Huth - Shawcross - De Ceglie N'Zonzi - Shelvey Hoilett - Crouch - Sinclair Niang That is a very good team IMO. Top 10 then push for top 6 1-2 years later. Anyone saying Shelvey would be a poor signing is an idiot.

Just gets on my nerves that now teams such as Sunderland are looking for good foreign talent under Di Canio and we seem to look for hard working UK players all the time.

This is an excellent idea! Keep all the absolute nonsensical bollocks on one thread. I hope it works, it will make life so much simpler.

That will all end in tears. 20th finish for them next season, the QPR of the 2013/2014 season IMO, he seems to be rushing to buy anyone whereas we are biding our time under the Sparko. I'd put my house on us hammering them home and away next season, no PL experience, no quality in the free transfers, the man is a buffoon, fuck him and fuck Sunderland. Next seasons predictions Stoke 4 - 1 Sunderland (Shelvey x2, Crouch, Jerome) Sunderland 0 - 3 Stoke (Niang, N'Zonzi, Crouch)

Not sure any of the candidates were any better excluding perhaps Benitez. All will be revealed in the Autumn

I know where you're coming from, what I mean is sign more players with technical ability to go along with them. A team just full of hard workers will get us nowhere in my opinion mate.

Good, membership is completely free, but you must chant at least three times every day, 'Shelvey's fucking useless, Shelvey's fucking useless, na-naaa-naaa-naaa, na-naaa-naaa-naaa'

Your concerned about Hughes? O.k I'm not his biggest fan, but would he have started a scratch team including Arismendi in the biggest game in our history against valencia? Onward and upward!!!

Lamela the breakthrough star of Serie A this season? Absolutely no chance. There's aiming high and then there's aiming for Lamela.

Jonjo Shelvey rather we went for Jonjo O'neill than the Uncle Fester lookalike of English football

He got Fulham to 8th - which is 3 places better than what we have ever managed in the Premier League. You obviously have very high standards - I'd be delighted with 8th place this season and I expect a lot of Stokies would feel the same way.
