I'm glad we didn't have to pay too much for Jermaine Jenas!

Over 80 million difference between our transfer spending and transfer revenue.
Poor.

Cameron Jerome seems not to have signed for us as well! David Jones - from the Monkees?

Over 80 million difference between our transfer spending and transfer revenue. Poor. Not really, when you think we have kept all our best players.

The free transfers we signed between 97-99 are truly mind-numbing! Some one must've been taking the piss when those transfers were made.
More positively though, transfer dealings made in and out during 07/08 were tremendous. Great assets to a man at the time.

errr? I thought Edu was free. Rangers went bump so his contract was terminated? Ness was on a free but Rangers had re-formed the club by the end of August when we signed Edu. I'm sure I read it was £500k. If it was £4 million then it was pure madness.

It's nice to see a site that is so accurate. I don't think I would rely on them as a point of reference.

Gavin Ward was a good keeper when he played for us. I'll never forget that Wigan fan and those Bristol fans. Brilliant. Some of the others though, my word. Steven fucking Tweed, described as one of the most talented youngsters around despite being about 25 when we signed him. He was quite awful. Big fat Southall was pretty much a finished player when he signed for us. He was so slow off his line it was like watching someone shift a wardrobe. He went Torquay after us, I think? I almost forgot about David Oldfield. I met him twice when he played for us. Nice guy. Useless footballer. Made over 60 odd appearances for us until we realized he was complete dog shit.

errr? I thought Edu was free. Rangers went bump so his contract was terminated? I thought he was free too, but then I read somewhere we did have to pay a fee. Edu's contract would not have automatically been terminated when Rangers went bust. Employee's contracts would transfer to the re-formed Rangers as the new employer (under TUPE regulations) UNLESS the employee sent a written notification that they didn't want it to. I believe Ness rejected the transfer, and so became a free agent. I'm guessing Edu didn't.

Yeah but are Huth, Shawcross and Bego (the only 3 that would fetch any considerable value) really going to be worth THAT much? I reckon we'd be doing well to get 20-25 million for the 3 of them. Huth is probably valued at around £6 million still, Shawcross perhaps £8 million (couple of years younger than Huth thus a couple of million more) and Bego what...9 million perhaps? Still leaves us around 60 million down. It goes without saying that we'd now be a championship team if you took those 3 out of our team last season.

I'm not saying it would cover it all, obviously it wouldn't but it never would considering we had to put together a team to stay in the Prem with the foundations of an aging and lets face it, not so great Championship team in some areas, I think over all (not on individual players if you know what I mean) its money well spent. I think you're being a little mean with your valuations though, although thinking about it I'm only thinking another 5-6mil on top of what you've put tbh.

Will certainly be interesting to see if any of these guys will leave this summer. Think we might make a small profit on Nzonzi but probably not a significant one.

I really, really hope we manage to keep N'zonzi, if we don't our midfield will be worse than back to square one.
