I thought the reasoning for the appointment given by Coates was very well thought out and plausible. Its time for us all to get down to business Yes firmly the case and reserve judgement over the substantial period of the contract that has just been signed..

Ten years ago I was delighted that TP became a manager. I knew from seeing him in action at Gillingham that he was the sort of manager we would need to arrest our decline. After various ups and downs the club is, both on and off the field, in a very different place. I don't for one minute believe that Hughes will take the club forward or even consolidate a mid-table position. We had something very special and it is gone. I think there is no argument that a Pulis figure was exactly right to steer the club during the difficult transition from League One to Championship is a none existant argument. It seemed prety clear to me at the time anyway. As you rightly say, the club is in a very different place now and the stark facts are that the "something very special" had gone long before Peter Coates called time on it. It's impossible to ignore the statistical evidence presented by the points per game over an eighteen month period which could only have one conclusion. Its impossible to ignore the transfer balance books which were unsustainable for this football club. You can't ignore the statements from the man himself which were clearly opposed to the very strategy that the club both promotes and invests in to safeguaerd the long term future and health. You can deny the evidence of your own eyes to pretend that deterioration had not set into the performances and persuade yourself that Pulis was a man of change complete with dossier if you like. Good luck with that. All things run their course. Stoke City and Tony Pulis had done just that. Bloody spot on Sent from my GT-I9300 using proboards
