Is it just me or has the general PR from the club in the last couple of weeks been a right old throwback to the dark days of Mr Coates first spell in charge.
They have clearly felt little or no requirement to explain their actions in any coherent form and any information has 'escaped' in the most amatuerish manner possible right from the day TP left.

Just think the fans would like a bit more info tbh so it doesn't just look like we've only looked at 1 person for the job! Everton have said they're interviewing 3 this week and whether or not it's bullshit it at least gives the Everton fans some hope that they aren't just looking at 1 man (unlike us, it looks like)

You only have to read this academic board to know that we must have spoken to at least 50

I think that the club should at least make a token effort to provide a broad update as to progress / developments
It's a bit like being stuck in a tunnel on he train - at least letting people regularly know that someone is trying to help is better than deafening silence.
The cub are shit at this sort of thing I'm afraid.

I wonder if any explanation will be deemed appropriate when the big announcement is made ! (the managerial appointment rather than the JLS support act).

They don't have to tell us anything No - because clearly we don't matter and in appointing Hughes they have pretty much confirmed that by their actions

I would suggest their 'actions' in getting shot of the man who had shaped the clubs destiny for the last 7 years might have warranted a little more than the few rather shabby sentences they managed to throw together !

Lets at least give new manager some time before ripping him to shreds just because we don't agree with the boards choice.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would think it appropriate for the club to make public statements about the progress of a senior staff appointment while the selection process was going on. No organisation in the world should behave like that. I would be appalled if my employer published a list of all the people they'd rejected before making a new appointment and I suspect most people would see that was obviously wrong in any other context. The club said at the start they wouldn't comment on the process until they announced their final choice and they've stuck to that and fair play to them for it. We're all dying to know what's been happening but I'm afraid we have no right to that information at all.

I think Pulis's statement in the paper / LMA website said more than a club statement ever could - infinitely more genuine.

No one is saying they should produce a list of candidates, just an inkiling that we are looking at more than 1 person as it feels like. Has anyone else really been mentioned other than Hughes??? Incidentally Hughes appointment wouldn't bother me at all but I would like to think we looked at/spoke to others as well.

Sometimes it is better not to say anything. Going into the reasons why TP has left would be disrespectful. Giving a running commentary on his replacement is fraught with difficulty, whoever is appointed should at least be allowed to feel they are the first choice and not second or third. It has been just over a week which is quite quick for what I am sure we all feel is a very important decision.

Think more clubs should do it this way. Make a statement that nothing will be said until a new manager is appointed and stick to it.
