Since 2008 our gates have doubled, are the newly gained match day supporters more critical than the 13000 hard core supporters who supported the club before the Premiership. This not a go at anyone just a bit of a survey, because I think people are a little bit disappointed by the Prem.

Not sure, but the newer ones will be the first to go if Stoke struggle.

Im not disappointed by The Prem. I think the hard core never believed we would ever reach the Prem and we enjoyed some pretty miserable times throughout the years. What we have got now is pride in being an established top side instead of Championship relegation fodder.

You are most proberly right but its hard to tell has nobody will own up to only attending since 2008 there is no problem with that but it would be intresting to see if there was a difference.

Not sure, but the newer ones will be the first to go if Stoke struggle. Though they'll probably still watch more games than you.

When we got gates around 13-15k they were not the same people every game. Bet you talking around 20k different fans with some doing odd games here and there. Makes me laugh when people think we had 13k and they were all the same people.lol think the club data base now is more than 50k.Different people expect different things. I just want see a bit of football, others expect win things.

I've been going since '78 & I expected more than Leslie Hughes!!!

i hate it when the fans here brag about how they were here when we were still in the championship! These fans are going out and supporting our team no one is above them! and no one's views are anymore worthwhile just because they were here when others were not, the fans that have been here since '08 know plenty enough about TP's reign of boredom! enough to make their own judgements

I think the 13000 hard core supporter base thing is far too low.
Sure, that was probably around our average attendance, but it fluctuated so much on a game to game basis. I mean some nights we'd get little over 8000 (this was usually against a shit team on a cold Tuesday night) or almost 20000 on a Saturday 3 o'clock kick off against someone half decent.
People like to make out that the news fans we gained after promotion had never seen, supported or liked Stoke before and whereas that might apply to 1 or 2 thousand, it certainly wasn't all of them.

Davef,
Maybe Dave, but I stay in Saturday just to watch Stoke on Match Of The Day, wouldn't miss it, for pure excitement.

I tend to disagree the same it was always the same faces on a cold night or wet Saturday,in the area of the Boothen I sit I would say the same 70% have been there the last 10+years,i have had 3 new people next to me the last 5 years they do not turn up for cup matches and have not renewed.

Not saying you don't get same hardcore numbers, but there always been a good percentage of floating fans as well. Same as any other club.

Not sure, but the newer ones will be the first to go if Stoke struggle. You have no right to an opinion about anything and certainly no right to criticise any Stoke fans at all. Fuck off.

Been going years but never had a season ticket. Always lived out the area. Some seasons i've done 40 games, some less than 10. Just the way it is and circumstances at the time. I always thought the hardcore since we moved to the brit was 10k and the rest were floaters.

If there weren't any new fans since 2008 we would be the size of Wigan or QPR, look how that's turned out.

Farmer starts a new thread like this every week... 'I am the bestest Stoke fan and I have been here since 1863...'
It's getting a bit boring now

Davef, Maybe Dave, but I stay in Saturday just to watch Stoke on Match Of The Day, wouldn't miss it, for pure excitement. That sums you up Geoff. You're obviously not a Stoke fan. You love Pulis based on the 2 mins highlights on MotD that you watched. Don't you feel sorry for the rest of us who have to watch the shit that was dished up for the last few seasons? No. Sadly you wouldn't even know.

Not sure, but the newer ones will be the first to go if Stoke struggle. there seemed to be a lot not renewing after twenty odd years a few months ago so your logic might be questionable
