If whosoever the new manager will be we could all get behind him and not have two quarrelling factions from the word go - no rimmers and no wankstains. It's a novel ground-breaking idea I know but lets try and move this board in a new direction Gouranga.

Then surely Coatesy should do the decent thing and not appoint such a big headed, over opinionated, character less, boring, ex man utd, type of manager........

I don't want Hughes, BUT... if he becomes the manager of our great club I'll back him 100%

It's a novel ground-breaking idea I know but lets try and move this board in a new direction Gouranga. Nice idea but now Rafa's gone no other candidate seems to have universal support. Personally I thought Pulis was so bad I'd be fairly happy with most of the names in the frame but others have truly set their minds against certain individuals. Names like McLeish and Warnock do that to me but they're quite few and far between. I'd love Martinez but I'd be happy with Hughes, I still rate O'Neil but can't see where the change in direction would be there. I'd be reasonably content with Poyet but no goals in 180mins of the clubs two biggest games for years (Brighton) would be a niggling concern. When you watch lots of football its fairly difficult to come up with names who's teams consistently produce worse football to watch than Tony Pulis teams.

Sadly to to say it was Peter Coates who caused the rift between the fans by bringing Pulis back. He's gone now lets get behind the man whoever is appointed

I think most fans will leave the choice of manager to Sir Peter & believe he's astute enough to know what he wants from a manager (whether that manager can deliver is another thing) & they will support the manager because they support Stoke. Think he will have a lot of goodwill for a honeymoon period. If he brings success, however you can define that for a team like Stoke, then everyone will be happy, even if some begrudgingly. Unfortunately, history shows, that sooner or later, we will be relegated from the top flight - lets hope that the new direction keeps us from that for many seasons to come.

I'll give anyone a chance if they play decent positive football & find some gems in the foreign market ( Like everyone else seems to do!)
If it's some dull manager who plays shit football I give fucking up & will fuck off up the vale, 7 years of Pulis then another dull man will be to much for me.

When Mark Hughes was mentioned as a potential manager I like most reacted, shall we say, negatively. However if he is appointed our manager I shall as one or two have said on here get behind him 100%. Before Charlie Adam came to Stoke I couldn't stand him. His two tackles on Gareth Bale were truly shocking. But he is a Stoke player and he has my full backing as will the new manager. Please, lets be united on this issue or we are doomed before the season starts. Get practising guys and gals "Mark Hughes barmy army" isn't easy to sing.
