I am genuinely gutted about today's news, it is clear to me that expectation has become unrealistic and that Mr Coates has bowed to supporter pressure in the end. You could say he has been hounded out. I hope I am wrong but " be careful what you wish for " and " better the devil you know " are comments that seem to fit at the moment.
I fear we will all regret this.
I suppose most on here have got what they wanted. I hope it is the right decision.

How has he been hounded out?
It's simply not true.
The atmosphere at the ground has been flat not hostile.
This is the decision of a chairman who thinks it is time for a change.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Hounded out? Are you taking the piss? The fans have been superb and treated him very well. He's been treated with the utmost respect at games.

I'm gutted too. The club need to get the appointment of the next manager spot on or I fear we will sink like a stone.

I think if he's bowed down to any pressure it will have come from his sprogs and the rest of the board of directors.
There's been hardly any dissent from the stands that would put proper pressure on and the only thing that the fans could have done in this to influence him is 2000 of them not renewing.
And if he has been hounded out, it's the tamest hounding I ever did see.

How is expectation unrealistic?
Most just want to finish above 17th, but actually enjoy watching the games

"Hounded" seems a bit extreme. If the fans aren't buying tickets then something has to change.

Really?? We should have no expectation after spending £100m than to get to 40 points or to finish with our lowest number of points since getting to the Prem. He has had his chance and "progressed" us backwards.FACT.

I don't think it's an unrealistic expectation to hope a manager won't be playing Cameron or shotton on the right wing next season.

Its a sad day - not least because of the way it has happened. No chance to show the gratitude that those supporters who have any degree of sanity will no doubt feel.

He hasn't been hounded out, but I fear he would've been next season. For that reason alone I'm glad he has left now because he deserves to part company with the club with the respect of our supporters for the great times he has brought here.

I'm shit scared about TP's replacement, but hope it's Rafa as we then would be in safe hands! Please not RDM as I have absolutely no belief in him! If this happens I'm sure we will go down! Martinez is not my favourite either as he has shown with Wigan how to produce an entertaining team not good enough for the Premiership!

Hounded out! When you've sobered up, even if you disagree with many of us you'll realise what a timid lot we are.
Not even a placard, no Chelsea-type abuse, no pitch invasions, (all of which I'd disapprove), just much shorter queues for season tickets, which is everyones right.

It's pretty obvious the loss of the fans backing is a major reason why he's going. Imagine the amount of negativity that would have started the next season off....that in itself would be a burden both on the fans and the players, let alone the manager and owners. You can call that being hounded out depending on how you look at it. I wouldn't, but I do hope those who shouted so loud for him to go keep the courage of their convictions and don't start trying to claim it was nothing to do with them. Personally I've loved what he's done for the club and for the city. He built a good team with a special spirit and it lasted longer than most do. This year the life and the spirit didn't seem to be there anymore. Maybe he could have rebuilt it but we'll never know I'll miss the good days but I see no reason to resent whoever comes in to replace him...whoever it is I hope they do at least almost as good a job.

He has determined that this is best for Stoke City and our future. Are you really as blind as you appear when it comes to whats been going on down Stoke for the last couple of seasons ? TP deserves our utmosty thanks and repect but PC deserves our utmost admiration for his foresight and need to put the club before any single individual.

If we could have had the same football as two seasons ago then I don't think there was a problem..........however, post FA Cup final the performances on the pitch have been in decline - last season the Europa league papered it over a little, but this season it was plain as hell that ( with very few games being exceptions ) we had gone backwards and this was our worst year by far.........we had become very one dimensional and a parody of ourselves. Forget all the bullshit about "pulisball" as in the last 5 years we have had 3 phases of varying styles under Pulis and there is not a problem in direct football when played well............but as the last 1.5-2 seasons has shown, when done badly with the wrong players it's bloody awful to watch most of the time.
