MailPhil Neville is wanted as first-team coach at Stoke as manager Tony Pulis prepares for crisis talks with owner Peter Coates this week.
Sportsmail can reveal that Neville, who is considering retirement after being released by Everton, will be offered the role by the ambitious Potters.
Coates is overseeing a huge change in the technical set-up at the Britannia Stadium and wants Neville to help put his plans into practice before the start of next season.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the talk around clayton woods about Gary Neville and scholes. Sounds far fetched but apparently it was going around clayton woods by all accounts.
Looks like we could well be looking for a new, fresh, youthful vision

Is the suggestion that Neville is being approached whether Pulis likes it or not - and ultimately regardless of whether Pulis stays or goes?
That may yet be at Stoke as the intrigue surrounding Pulis’s position after almost seven years at the club continues to build.
The 55-year-old has done an excellent job after guiding Stoke into the Barclays Premier League in 2008. Since then, Pulis has taken the club to a Wembley FA Cup final and into Europe.
He has never been relegated as a manager, but has come under massive pressure to alter the team’s style of play this season.
Pulis will not resign but Stoke are preparing to offer a compromise agreement as they consider their options in the coming days.
The manager, who led the club to 13th place in the Premier League this campaign — six points clear of safety — fears that he is being pushed out of the door.

Back him or sack him, no half measures.

Not me mate. Never been down there myself. Came from someone who's down there a lot and spoken to the head groundsmen and that is what he told him. Just passing it on like I did a week ago. Don't shoot!

A young Assistant Manager brought in.
I've been saying for weeks that this is the most likely scenario.

A young Assistant Manager brought in. I've been saying for weeks that this is the most likely scenario. But if Pulis stays will he listen and take on ideas? Or will it be I have x amount of years of experience, never been relegated, got to an FA Cup Final, last 32 in Europe, now shut up and do as I say or you'll find yourself on the next plane to Buenos Aires

The definition of irony: Dean Whitehead released on the eve of finally becoming the second ugliest employee of Stoke City.

A young Assistant Manager brought in. I've been saying for weeks that this is the most likely scenario. Surely an ulterior motive for this. Pulis doesnt listen to others...if nothing else surely the last 7 years have taught us this.

Someone else he can ignore? Back him or sack him, no half measures. Exactly. A pointless compromise if true. Cut the ties completely. Neville with a decent manager would be more palatable.

Where is all of this talk coming from?
All we are hearing from the outside is Pulis Out, Electric Dildo's, RDM, BDSM, Fat Spanish waiters, young Assistants (Is that you Jimmy Sav?), Dean Whitehead taking a Ghostbusters theme tune to No. 1, Coatesy retiring.
The silence from the club is deafening.

I think that yesterday was last match of Pulis at Stoke. A Scholes - Neville brothers partnership could be fresh air

Peter Reid left because he was privately pulling players to one side and telling them what to do. Players were then tittle tattling back to TP and this is what can happen if you get a strong assistant with different ideas. If he or someone like him is being lined up to come in as a coach it will only upset Tone. Hence being forced out
