who would you want to buy us out?
You see sports franchise owners from the USA in the Premier League (Liverpool, the shit), oil barons (Man City) Now property and gambling tycoons (Redbirds)... but who would you want to take over the reigns at Stoke?
Knowing our luck at Stoke it'd be Lidl!!!!

Here is a big part of the reason Pulis has to go at the end of THIS season, we need to start taking the academy & Academy recruitment very seriously for when the Coates Family call time on the Club. Pulis has no intentions whatsoever than to play & buy experienced players, he has no intentions whatsoever in developing the Academy.
John Cauldwell?

I really dislike foreign owners at English football clubs! They have no passion for the club, they might have for the game, but I really hope the Coates family will remain as the owners of the club for a long long time!

When the Coates family achieve running the club self efficiently, I would like someone/s with pride, soul and heart in the club and NO profit racketeers running our glorious club.
Becoming self efficient should hopefully help attract the right person/s when Sir Peter and family decide to hang their boots.
Personally I hope we don't lose our SOUL in our football "club" like every other foreign owned football "business" but is this the only way to go? Where is the local money? Do we need money backing if we become self efficient? can we sustain self efficiency once we get there?

I wouldn't like foreign based owners at Stoke. I don't have a problem with foreign owners who have been based in the UK for years - like, for example, HUll City's owner, Assem Allam. Assem AllamThe important thing to me is that an owner should have genuine and long standing links to the area. Personally, I like the German model of ownership where clubs are around 50% owned by their fans with mega bucks owners being limited to the size of stake they can own.

Is there any need for them to sell up? We're a good marketing tool for them aren't we and it's all tax deductible and we're not costing them too much, if anything, anyway?? They can't buy this sort of publicity and surely the publicity they're getting is the main reason for change of manager. But!! What if we became really successful would it affect the business in that other fans would boycott them as they'd effectively be financing our success.

As long as they were sensible, well funded and reliable then I couldn't care less where they were from or how they made their money.

I agree regarding the German model. Just watching an item on Sky news regarding Dortmund. This is the way to go along with the community club model if we are to move back to clubs belonging to fans. The gravy train will derail one day and the fans will be the ones most affected so as they are the true guardians of the game getting them involved in the ownership and management of a club makes sense to me.

Ideally JCB for me.
From what I've seen on here they're not remotely interested tho.
One of the things that gives me a slight glimmer of hope is the USA gambling thing and Bet365 being on the shirt.
Our reputation over their won't be causing a rush of punters to our owners website, they must be looking to improve our image and I expect this to be one of the things discussed at the end of the season.
Sadly I think they'll give Pulis another stab at it.

Having spent a lot of time, effort and money, why would the Coates family want to sell up. Could see son John taking over at some stage. Also think that Peter Coates enjoys his relationship with the FA too much to pack in now.
