Just seen this on faceboook, and i found it disgusting Stoke should do this, if not paying nothing towards it and putting out the way was bad enough they do this. PICTURE

Doesn't surprise me. People seem to think we are a lovely club ran with real gents.
What people don't know is what the regime including the manager are really like.
I could tell you a few wonderful things about the club and you would be surprised at how low and how arrogant some are.

Is this what davejohnno was on about? I've just re-read what he said and he does specifically mention former players so I assume he was on about this.

Terrible place for the statue - almost as bad as the location of the hidden Matthews statue. Sort them both out Stoke- it doesn't cost much to present your clubs history properly. And it's a big part of your 'brand' if that's more important.

It's nothing short of scandalous.
Hopefully this thread will be long and full of people expressing their disgust.
Incredibly disrespectful and out of touch. You have to hope it was simply an oversight and it will be rectified fast. Sickening that we are throwing thousands a week at many players who give back virtually nothing while something like this disrespects the memory of one of our all time greats.

It's terrible, looks like it was just dumped to the nearest wall next to a bin (which it is).

Show some respect Stoke for one of our greatest ever players, and get it placed somewhere more respectable. This in our 150th anniversary too.

Totally disrespectful. It needs to be sited in a prominent position which recognises the great contribution this man made to Stoke City. Placing the bin alongside it, is an absolute disgrace. Wake up Stoke City and sort it out.

That picture makes me embarassed to be a Stoke fan. Someone should ring up Praise. & Grumble tonight & put it in the spotlight & ask Radio Stoke as well if they could get a comment from Stoke.
Also I hope they treat Wareys family well today.

But it is the chief executive who holds the influence for ensuring that the marketability of the club is maximised. They should have realised that the benifits of good future planning would have maximised the effect as opposed what is only seen as "on a whim" planning.
With the infrastructure available, and a better business case (as opposed to half arsed ideas) we could have now had a "legends" walkway in front of the front entrance and stand.
Sir Stan should be central with "Big" John, franklin, Banks etc alongside the road. They could even have used the bust element to allow for future legends to be incoorporated. Furthermore it would capture the media's eye, fans hearts, prospective signings when they see who has played for us and could have been a central focus for our 150th celebrations.... This would have encouraged (honestly) income through investment commercially and public expenditure...
FFS... I already can see this and would love to project manage this outlay as I can see the benifits to this business case... THAT's why I blame Scholes :/

I agree about moving both these stautues however can I just point ut thte Banks statue is nothing to do with the club They didnt commision it & have no say on where it goes.
To be fair to the club I think the Ritchie one was placed there so the Boothen Enders would see it when thye go in
putting the bin next to it is clearly shoody thinking by someone.

Is this what davejohnno was on about? This is exactly what I was on about yesterday. I have written directly to Tony Scholes and am awaiting a response. I have had an initial response confirming that my points will be investigated before further comment is made. I am/was and remain disgusted by this but wanted to give the club a chance to respond before making it common knowledge. I am so glad that others are equally outraged.

You will be waiting a while... It is contempt that stops him replying.
I was thinking more of a statue like the one in Hanley, however, it may be more pertinent to have Waddington (A la Ramsey at LFC) with the busts either side running along the road side.
Even one of Bob Mcrory or the "founding fathers of Stoke Ramblers" be unveiled as a portrait in the main reception... Lets truly celebrate our history!

People put a bin next to it out of convenience and its a cause for offence? After all, the club are probably hoping that statue does get a bit of foot-traffic with people coming past it just to see it. I suppose it should have nothing of convenience nearby so if someone takes their kids whilst eating a snack or drinking a drink they have no where to put their rubbish. In fact, the most convenient thing then would be to sling it on the ground around the statue.
Lets not forget, take that same picture at the same angle from the otherside and there's no bin in the picture. Jesus christ some people are precious if the biggest thing they have to worry about is a litter bin being placed in a convenient location nearby. By all means argue against the positioning of the statue, state it should be given more prominence but seriously? A fucking bin? The facebook group then goes on to try and curry support for its point of view by slagging off Coates and Fuller.
My manager at work has a paper waste bin about 2 feet to his right, should he be complaining about this? I also have one 2 feet to my left (because I sit on the other side of the manager) are they disrespecting us somehow? Personally I just thought it was a simple convenience to have a bin there between the two of us.
The funny thing is, out of all the things that ruin the picture, the bin isn't it. The walls behind are looking a bit messy and could do with a tidy up. Because someones posted a picture and told you why you should be offended you are offended. Rename ourselves Lemmings FC for the 150th year.

Just to give you a quick update. This issue was raised by ange1 at the Supporters Council meeting this morning. The club are aware of the issue and are already dealing with it. It's not a quick fix as the bin is concreted in and the base will also have to be removed along with the bin.

Rename ourselves Lemmings FC for the 150th year. No Santy, the walls were mentioned earlier in the thread, however I do concede that criticism of fuller or Coates personally is not on. The bin issue is actual quite relevant as it's position is pretty poor. Why did it have to be placed in that location? Could it not have been placed where the footfall is it slightly further away so that it would not be captured in the bust's "sight" lines when pictured? It is poor planning and needs to addressed when analysing the situation not afterwards! Your office bin is not relevant as your office is not a public interest item and would have no effect on the beneficial outputs.

Don't get me started on the subject of statues .......the John Richie bust should be near the main entrance ...it's totally disrespectful sticking it where it is ... The Gordon Banks statue is another saga ....there are certain people at the club whose arrogance and lack of respect for a lot of the older ex players is unbelievable . These same people also treat a lot of the fans appallingly ....preferring to suck up to the big corporate clients .....lets hope we don't ever exit the premier league, because the corporates will not want to entertain their clients at championship games ...they will be off, like rats leaving a sinking ship .....
