I see that BBC4 have tonight shown the very first episode of "Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads". Has Rodney Bewes died again? RIP.

Do TP and Dave Kemp live in a house in Hanley like the blokes in the Likely Lads?
I imagine so.

I know I'm going to regret this, but can any of you lot tell me what this thread is actually about.

I know I'm going to regret this, but can any of you lot tell me what this thread is actually about. First of all I thought it was yet another "Who do you want to replace TP?" thread and the lunatic fringe of wankstainery had chipped in with another of their nutty proposals. But on reflection a long time ago the passing of Rodney Bewes was mistakenly reported on these pages and I think this is a humorous reprise of that moment.

You've solved a real puzzle for me and that's the reason I asked the question in the first place. I was convinced a few years back that Rodders was dead, and I couldn't work out how I'd got it so wrong when he turned out to be still with us a few months later. Turns out it was down to the Oatcake. That's why I was so curious when I read this thread, cos it kind of hinted at the fact he'd been dead once - if you catch my drift. I'd even just wiki'd him to make sure he'd not gone again. Rodney Bewes to replace Pulis. Mmmmmmmmmm...

Rodney Bewes may be a fuddy duddy kind of guy who's done nothing in his life to suggest he knows the first thing about successfully managing a Premier League football team. But at least he takes pride in his personal appearance, wears a smart suit and speaks with a smooth voice. He's up there with Roberto Martinez for me.

The demise of Mr Bewes and it's reporting on the Oatcake is part of our cultural heritage and predates baseball capped, track suited, shouty Welshmen.

Nice to see Rodney Bewes earning repeat fees. James Bolam has blocked repeats of the likely lads, cos he's a misery guts. Very funny series and often quoted in Dominic Sandbrooks histories of the 1970s. The sequence in the film where their pub and street are getting demolished, would bring a tear to any alpha males eye

The classic episode has to be the one where they're trying to avoid hearing the result of the England v Bulgaria game until the highlights are shown later.

The football episode is class, as is the one where they have a cycle race to Berwick. The Likely Lads are still the blueprint for anyone over 30 who still wishes to have a degree of idiocy in their life

Ah yes the cycle race classic, I wonder if Bradley Wiggins has heard of putting Newcastle Brown in the water bottles?

Does anyone remember the series he was in before the Likely lads returned ? It was called Dear Mother....Love Albert , I think he was a sales Rep for a toffee firm ( not Walkers )
