Good article. Footy Place often has some decent stuff on their site.
Its the best summary of our our present situation by a fan of another club that I have read. Strange how Sunderland and ourselves reached a low point at about the same time, after similar lengths of time in the Prem, and both under managers who are described by many as "tactical dinosaurs". Sunderland, of course, opted for a change of manager very late in the season - high risk, but it looks as if it may have worked.

It's increasingly difficult to argue against that.

It looks like something that the Captain would write.

It looks like something that the Captain would write. Guilty, as charged.

It looks like something that the Captain would write. Guilty, as charged. He is a darn sight better than most, mate. He spends responsibly and he has invested it in one hell of a foundation. Not sure there is a better natural fit out there for Stoke than Pulis right now Now who wrote that i wonder

Not sure about our lost identity.
One thing I am sure of is, our manager's lost the fucking plot!

Good article Captain, bang on the money. Cheers matey. Parallels between Pulis' Stoke and Reid's Sunderland are frightening.

frighteningly accurate appraisal that from an opposition supporter. I couldn't have put it better myself!

Cheers lads. For the record, Sunderland didn't go down under Reid after they started dropping. We survived by the skin of our teeth that season. The next season we stuck with him though and ended up with 19 points and Howard Wilkinson/Mick McCarthy. Very dark days.

That's as good a Stoke article as I've seen lately. I've said on here a few times that there are a lot of similarities between Stoke and Reid's Sunderland, right down to the useless big name target man, Tore Andre Crouch.

In fairness to Flo, he arrived after the horse had bolted. The summer after our huge slide and we scraped a 17th place finish. What I don't understand about Crouch this season is that he does have a good use. If he was in, for example, a rigid 4-4-2 with plenty of width and a partner like Fuller to run off him. He'd be a real asset. But they way Pulis has used him seems staggering. He can't operate as a lone striker because he needs people running past him. The way Stoke have used him especially this season is more akin to maypole dancing than football. A big pole for everyone to prance around specifically not progressing. Mental.
