From the BBC. But at whose expense I suppose is the question for us on here?
Roberto Martinez is sure his Wigan side will avoid relegation if they can repeat their display against Manchester City in their final six league games.
The Latics were beaten 1-0 after a late Carlos Tevez strike but created numerous chances at the Etihad Stadium.
"If we play like this we'll get the points we deserve," the Wigan manager told BBC Sport.
"It's a performance to be proud of and when you play against a team like Manchester City you have to accept conceding a goal with a piece or magic.
"But from a football and tactical point of view were better in every department and deserved the points."
The defeat at City was just Wigan's second loss in nine matches. Martinez feels his team, who have pulled away from relegation trouble in the closing stages of the last two seasons, are finding form at the right time.
The Spaniard added: "We've been in a very good run of form. [The performance at City] was no accident, We've been playing really well in the last few weeks and the FA Cup success has really helped us.
"We've got a very exciting period but the team is at a very good level. The performance was magnificent.
"We didn't take the chances, it is as simple as that. We created four very good chances."

Certain managers would be blaming the FA cup on last nights loss, not thanking it

It sounds like Tony Pulis . . . . but unfortunately for Stoke, doesn't manage like Tony Pulis!

The difference between him and Pulis is - he has players who will actually fight.

Happy to see this attitude. They've been on a good run but they are still deep in the shit. At this stage of the season, for a team in a relegation fight, taking consolation in a good performance after losing a game is the wrong attitude. Nothing else matters but points. Good performances mean fuck all.

My one concern about Wigan at the moment, and one of the reasons we should worry is, they are not conceeding goals like they did earlier in the season. Since they signed Scharner and Alcaras came back from injury they have looked reasonably tight at the back, and the way they go for it in games there is a chance they can upset anyone on the day and pick up points.

I know there's a little nationwide love in for Wigan at times but I can't stand them. Do nothing all season then just escape relegation by the skin of their teeth. Then all of a sudden it's 'what a great manager Martinez is'.

Roberto Martinez is sure of Latics survival because he knows Tony Pulis already has the white flag out. After watching Stoke's displays against Aston Villa and Man United, Martinez knows Stoke have lost the bottle for a fight.

There is a different vibe coming out of Wigan and Sunderlad at the right time for them in stark contrast to the vibes from Stoke City. When you listen to Di Canio www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22142961 go to 3:07 into the clip when he is asked why he was pushing players forward when winning 3-0 and near the end of the game. This 'avoiding heavy defeats' strategy rather that going out to win games has held us back for the last 2-3 years.

I thought Maloney was the finest attacking/winger I've seen at the Brit this season. I know he's only a couple of years younger than Ethers, but seeing him on tv a couple of times since it's apparent that he wasn't just made to look good against Wilko and Shotts {who swapped flanks in a failed bid to contain him} he is actually very good indeed. I hope Wigan have sleep walked for too long this season. If they go down, a summer swoop for Kone and Maloney would be exciting. If only.

I love his huge dark brown eyes and sexy accent optimism Playing like that he's right. Plus, obviously, the huge dark brown eyes, sexy accent and pretty damn buff-looking body under well-chosen threads... And they wonder why a skinny bald grey Welshman who looks like Roland Rat's brother doesn't get the attention, poor Tone

Dont worry about Wigan they will be safe. Villa are the team who have a very tough run in and I think will finish below us (probably on goal difference). I think the key matches at the end of the season are us v Saints and Wigan v Villa. If wigan do them over we will be safe

I think he should be granted eternal respect, not told he talks shite. Thats the ticket isn't it? God knows what he would do with a big transfer kitty at a club like.....Stoke?
