While part of me hopes he leaves at the end of the season, I do think if we stay up he'll turn it around in Summer. Crouch will go QPR which will release £3-£5m Furthermore he's earmarked Erik Pieters and Andreas Cornelius as EARLY (Cartwright is adamant of this)signings. A proper left back, practically an international for Holland were it not for injury. A young powerful international goalscorer. Get the driftwood out, get these 2 in alongside 2 wingers (which I think he will certainly get now, ethers and pennant will go) and a fit Shea (which will be like a new signing) and I think we'll be back to our best.
If not, those sleeveless jackets would fit me well.

I'm not really making excuses. I accept that from the outside, some of his decisions seem baffling. But while the buck stops with him, I think certain things have gone wrong that have contributed to the current problems.
It's just not that easy replacing players like Fuller and Etherington. Like every manager, he has made some great signings and some that haven't worked out. I would also guess that one of the hardest things in football is getting out of that downward spiral and getting some confidence back.
David Brailsford transformed British Cycling by concentrating on increasing performance through a combination of very small improvements across a wide range of factors. You can see that in a good football team. The keeper claims that cross and releases the ball a bit quicker. The winger makes a run a fraction earlier and the midfielder passes a bit firmer. One striker makes a more committed run to drag a defender away and the other really commits to attacking the ball. Lots of little things and having that confidence and belief to do them can make all the difference.
If we could get that into our matchday squad right now, we would pick up points, regain confidence and performances would improve.

But when Your game plan clearly doesn't involve the 'keeper releasing it a bit quicker, no wingers, midfielders who pass too firm and strikers that run in straight lines or very slowly and the other who lingers at the back post then You're fucked. That's where we are, totally paralysed by tactic and transfer policy. We need a complete overhaul, not the marginal gains or whatever they call it in British cycling.

Bayern I'm using it to make a point. If all 11 players could find that little bit extra it would make a huge difference to the team as a whole. The whole being greater than the sum of the parts.
We could be one win away from getting a bit of confidence back. They can't all have become crap players since Boxing Day, so a lot of the problems have to be mentality and confidence.
By the way, I told you not to give up on Michael Kightly before the Villa game. Would you play him right mid now for the last 5 games?

I know and I'm saying I think that point is crap but I was doing it politely. It's more than a confidence thing imo, it's a long term issue that needs a root and branch overhaul. 11 wins in 52 matches from January 1st 2012 suggest that going from Boxing Day simply isn't enough! We've been shite for a while and it needs sorting. No, I still want Pennant. But pig's might fly. Kightly is still shit and was shit against Villa bar his goal which I can live with!

Ah well, I live in hope. I appreciate your politeness. I've been told I'm deluded so many times I'm beginning to doubt my sanity.
I still think we've got the bones of a decent squad and a few changes and a bit of form and confidence would make a world of difference.
I think we have to stick with Kightly - at least he gives us a goal threat from right mid.

I think the squad is half decent it's why I want the manager gone and for the squad to be used correctly because if it was I think we'd be mid-table easily. I just think they've been severely mis-managed in one way or another. From being signed for a Pulis team to being played out of position etc.
At the moment if it mean no Shotton on the right then so be it but it's a terrible situation to be in and part of that mis-management.

Erik Pieters was asked about this move on Dutch TV on Sunday to which his reply was "its not going to happen"..... watching his cock up on Sunday against Ajax I wouldnt really want him in our back line anyway

Plus Cornelius. I'm an optimist, I refuse to see reason!
