Just read that Leighton baines turned up at a fans house with a bunch of flowers and a season ticket for next year after the death of his wife. If true it is nice to see in this crazy money driven world of modern football

Personally what I find the most incredible is how he manages to be a professional footballer and also play the leading role in The Hobbit.

What a sad but heartwarming story. I remember Artetta doing something similar before for them. Things like this should be done more often. I'm trying to find a celeb at the moment for a children's event in Surrey and believe me it's not easy. most want money and others don't come back to you. Well done Everton and well done Leighton.

Stoke are doing something along the lines of this. Supporters can nominate someone they know who deserves to spend a year watching Stoke and a player will deliver them a season ticket. Anyone wanting to take part should sent the details of their chosen burgler, tax dodger or other criminal who deserves a year of suffering to www.nobodydeservespulisball.com

Really nice gesture from Baines. Pity the same sentiment cannot be extended by clubs to youngsters applying to be matchday mascots. Years ago one youngster was chosen from a pile of applicants to be a mascot. These days 11 mascots ( 1 per player) are charged upto £350 to walk out with their heroes every home game. Fookin greedy barstewards as if they aren't raking in enough Wonga without ripping off young kids. Dunner give me this "community relation" shite, they are only in it to make money out of anything. Football really is sick. But we'll done Baines.....a shining light in a pit of darkness of greed and immorality.
