Already a thread on the front page. Admittedly it is titled Danish Striker. Possibly time to give him his own thread.

Anyone remember a much hyped young nordic striker that we signed round about 2000. Probably came from third tier in Norway. But tremendous scoring record. Predictably never made it, though we had high hopes for him.
No I'm not confusing him with any of the Icelandic contingent. This guy had links to Sweden or Norway. Just cant remember who he was.

You aren't talking about Ole Albrigtsen, the flying postman are you perchance? I do remember at least two people who for their own dignity I won't name who were excited by his arrival. He was so unfit that after the rest of the squad had done one lap of the training ground he was nearly one lap behind. Gudjon was sort of talked into signing him after he scored a couple of goals in a trial match but the telling comment was that he described him as "blowing out of his arse" after ten minutes. He was dreadful but I fondly remember him playing for the reserves at Wrexham observed by Davef and Smudge. They were updating me on how dreadful he was but in the last minute he swung his ball at the ball as he couldn't run anymore and it flew in the net. There was immediately the predictable clamour "on ere" to put him immediately into the first team. Happy days. ;D

Thanks for that. Yes. Ole Albrightson. Strange that he should come to mind as soon as there is talk of a hot new signing from Sweden.
History repeating itself perhaps?

The management plan seems to be,to bring in experienced youngsters and then the odd academy player. To save money and to build a longer term squad. The last few years has been to bring in anyone who will keep stoke city in the PL, even if they dont fit the system and next season seems to be, long term solid foundations with youngsters for hopefully many years in the PL,

Yes, we signed him just before we played Everton at home in the FA Cup. And Ole was on here speculating as to whether he would be in the starting eleven or on the bench! ;D It's good for people to have dreams even if they don't work out. As I recall, at least Ole got paid £80k per annum for his dream. I met him in D's a few times and he was a nice bloke.
