Stoke would not appeal to Poyet / Martinez or any of the "passing" type continental managers. Nor are we ready for them and maybe never will be.
We need a manager who can get the team playing in a similar direct style but better. eg doing basic things well like accurate passing, good crossing and with more pace and mobility than we have shown this season.
I was hoping TP could do it but his ultra defensive approach and poor judgement of players in the transfer market has shown that it is doubtful he can.
We may limp through this season but we would not survive next season without an improvement in our goal scoring threat and I just can't see TP doing it.

If Pulis left anyhow, we'd be looking at a toss up between Megson, Allardyce, Hughes and Curbishley.
All Coates men to a tee.

The markets for these things are pretty unreliable indicators of reality - not a lot of money involved, you could stick £40 on and they'd probably cut the odds.

Holy cow. There are some frightening names there! Pesch! Didn't know he was Burton Albion manager for a few years. Shit job he did there too! Get Inchy back! Although I'm not sure he'd swap Orlando for the Potteries

I am ready for a 'passing/high technical ability/skilfull manager', be he english, continental, south american - and always will be. I hope there are many more of us who haven't been brainwashed into the 'lump it and chase it' school. The sooner we break free from the cage and all similar abominations, the sooner we can get back to enjoying games where we DON'T know beforehand exactly what skills and tactics/strategy will turn up. Oh for another Hudson to keep us on the edge of our seats - or even jumping out of them.

I'd have thought for at least a basic £15k a week they should be able to pass and cross, but hey ho, it's not for us to judge

If QPR go down which looks likely, I could see Pete going for Harry again. Don't think Tone will leave to be honest and can't see Harry coming up north, but if he did leave I could see him going for Harry

The true believers are posting some crazy shit again, repeating discredited points and mindlessly creating threads that say nothing, just to silence the part of their brain screaming at them to defend their dictator.
I've lost a bit of faith in him going but their nervous zealotry getting whipped up shows the crowd think the axe is coming

The difference between a 20/1 chance and a 14/1 chance is a little over 2% so the odds have hardly been slashed, have they.

Can they as individuals - or is it a team/tactic thing ? Teams with fairly average premiership players seem to offer more threat going forward. Players that seem to find space, players who look to pass and move for a return, players who get forward and support, players who can play a through pass, players who can get a shot on goal - even players who can score goals ! Why is that ? Surely our players are capable of doing these things aren't they ? Yet we play lump it forward for Crouch or give it the wide man and our front men run into the box and wait for a cross that rarely comes good because the wide man has to beat three defenders on his own and if the cross does come in the men in the middle are surrounded by defenders.

I don't buy this 'we need a similar direct manager' stuff, the defence is solid, isn't going to change if TP goes, given some chances I'm sure our forwards can score goals, that just leaves the midfield to address and we have a start on that with N'Zonzi and possibly Adam. Piece of piss, especially if he takes his dog with him
