Didnt he also finish 5th in the league twice, being in the title race until the end of the season on one of those occasions? Goes without saying hes won our only major trophy. Werent the likes of Alan Hudson, Jimmy Greenhof and co some of the finest footballers of their time? Presumably he didnt spend the equivelant of £104 million either? Or did he? I wasnt there to see it but i'd like to know why some think TP is a better manager than Waddo. I don't think there are many that think that at all rossi, just hyberbole from Pulis haters. There are many that think he's in the same ball park though. Only appearance in a cup final. Longest run in Europe. and all the usual blah blah blah. It is acceptable to mention our two most successful managers in the same breath and there are similarities them. This moderate position is being portrayed as extremist lunacy by some on here. In what way are they similar (apart from the fact they both managed us in the top flight? To be fair a number on here alone have come out and said they think TP is the best manager ever. Coates himself came out and said exactly that didnt he?

I'd imagine the players are 100% up for every game, doesn't make much difference.

I am not qualified to say as a consequence of age rossi, but my 74 year old dad was talking about it this weekend. He can't get shouted down as he doesn't post on here and I am not keen to waste energy being shouted down on his behalf. It's all been said before. And shouted down before. edit - re your last point, in that case maybe you are right rossi, maybe there are a lot of people that think Pulis is clearly the best

DaveF. Looks pretty similar to me. And keep going because the best years come about 4 years after that!

I will take some convincing that Pulis made Stoke rather than Stoke made Pulis. Still come back to the same question, what other top flight team has he managed? Excellent championship manager who reached his peak two years ago

So in 4 years time Pulis will start playing young lads from the academy, sign a Hudson like midfielder and totally change his way of setting up a football team? After 25 years Pulis is suddenly going to change in 4? Pull the other one.

Excellent championship manager who reached his peak two years ago Spot on, I just dont think he has the experience to deal with some of the big name signings and inevitable prima donnas you get in this league

Excellent championship manager who reached his peak two years ago I think you flatter him to be honest, I've always described him as a League One manager. Even in our promotion season I was not impressed by him, I just don't think his version of football is ever likely to achieve a great deal in the top two divisions. he just doesn't have the balls to win stuff, he'll always try to just hang in there and hope the opponent drops a bollock. Its just not a winners mentality.

I urge you all to read the Sentinels Celebrating 150 years of Stoke City Part Four 1960-1969. It's great and there are uncanny similarities to what is happening today. It is amazing that Waddington was exactly the same. In the early years all he cared about was stopping the other team from playing. He played two banks of 4. 2 holding midfield players. He established us in the top league and then the fans got restless. They wanted him out but then in the late 60's he transformed the team into one of the most exciting and best teams in the league that played great football. The rest as they say is history. Can Pulis do this, we will have to wait and see but I think he has earned the chance to at least try. Do you realy think he would ever put a team together like the team we had late 60's early 70's. I don't think i'll live to see it. Maybe its because i was watching that football that i hate this shit every week, and before you say fuck off up the vale if you are a true supporter you'll know its in the blood.

Didn't really go to games regularly until the Durban era (couldn't stand him either) but you don't need to have seen Waddo's team to know good football when you see it and what this bloke produces is not good football. Can't see how these self declared super fans can keep telling people to fuck off anywhere, do they really think thats whats best for a football club to alienate a good proportion of its fanbase?
