Yet another one paced plodder that TP got a hard on for.
Can anyone believe that TP was willing to shell out 6m of "the family's" money and that useless tosser?
Thank god we escaped that particular bullet.

Thank god we escaped that particular bullet. Would have been another championship standard plodder to add to our collection. By my reckoning we started Saturdays match against West Ham with no fewer than six championship standard players. Depressing stuff at best

Didn't we go in with a £8 million panic bid on deadline day in 2008?

Better than Glenda but not 12 times better fee wise.
Pulis is good at buying keepers, brilliant at buying centre halves, okish at buying widemen. Poor at buying front men (Ricardo aside) but utterly fucking dreadful at central midfielders.
If he's here for another decade I hope to rate him on a purchase of a full back one day.

I think Shawcross, MyLord and Huth honestly eclipse all that FM, Upson, I'd take out of the list...just but you're right, I'll change brilliant to 'good'

Well, yeah...apart from Paul Williams, Sonko, Davies, Upson and Woodgate... But, Ryan/Huth/Abdy etc were bought for first team. To take us/keep us up. Woodgate and Upson were brought in as cover. They didnt need to be world beaters or they wouldnt be cover. In the respect of Upson, he never let us down really and he even scored 2-4 goals. Woodgate had a few shockers, agreed. However he had some great games to, remember his debut vs Chelsea? Davies was never given a proper chance, and injuries scuppered it to, so he wasn't a flop or a success, just a unlucky one. The rest I'll give you

Agreed, Momo.
He has picked up 3 who've been absolutely fabulous. I'll give him a high pass mark for centre-halves....
Although I'll have to knock half a mark off for Leon Cort (mind you, his goals were vital)
Riggott was steady too.

And buying cover players is an art in itself - pretty tough to pull off. This veteran player cover policy has never worked for us or the player though.

Taggart was probably the most important signing that Pulis has made at stoke. Without Gerry the story of the last 10 years ay well have been very different.

One thing that really grates me when Pulis signs a player is that he has to endorse the signing by saying that he's spoke to another manager "rates him"
It's as if he is afraid to say that he has watched the player himself and thinks he is a good player.
When we signed Cameron we had the " I spoke to Jurgen and he really rates him"
Arry has been thrown in quite a few times and any other name pulis can drop.

Love him or hate him, his record with keepers is pretty phenomenal.

His biggest blip on keepers was the one he was bloody lucky it fell through, Carson.
Somewhere in a parallel universe, Pulis is managing Stoke in the third division, having blown all The Family's money on Scott Carson, Joe Ledley and Chris Sedgwick. Coates still hasn't sacked him though.

If you're scouring for poor goalkeeper signings from TP, the absolute worst that you acn get are Steve Banks and that tall bloke from Sunderland who was on the bench for one game and recalled. Maybe Russell Hoult as well. Hardly shockers, though, and all balanced out by Crossley, de Goey, Simonsen, Nash, Sorensen and Begovic.

And Fulop is only a remotely bad signing because he was recalled because Sunderland needed him, so even that's harsh.
