Because, at 10 I went to my first game against my home town but at the Brit in the boothen!
We won 5-1 and the buzz from that game is something that I was/am always looking to replicate!
No greater feeling that turning up and watching The Potters win a game regardless of score/how we play!
Losing games is obviously another question.....

It has become too close of being my religion I'm afraid! Instead of going to church on Sundays I watch Stoke on Saturdays (mostly on TV);D

You have to question why people go to football just to be 'entertained'
There are many forms of entertainment available throughout the world. A lot cheaper than football also.

Just like I don't pay to travel up the road to watch Man Utd or Man City. We go to watch Stoke because they are the team that we support! Out of the 200,000 or so people who attend games around the country tomorrow, how many will genuinely feel entertained?

I see your point.

To the OP. You say that everyone watches football for the same reason ie. to be entertained. That might be true of me if I happen to get into a non-Stoke match on the TV or attend another non-Stoke game BUT I definitely do not watch Stoke to be entertained.
That does not mean that if I am entertained in the process it isn't great of course. (is it a bit like going to your child's Christmas play or is that a crap analogy?).
I watch Stoke to see us win at home and at least draw away. As long as we do that I'm happy.

...Because They are the club I love. In all of my 48 years, whether living in London and coming to Stoke on the train with London Stokies all them years ago or living in the north as I do now,I still get the same buzz. My friends and myself will meet up at Kirkham tomorrow and set off about 12ish,as we do for every match at home.
If I lived in Stoke it maybe different, but I do really look forward to coming down to Stoke and I like watching us. Now I well know we have our faults and I'm not a happy-clapper by any means, but some of the post on here the last few weeks really leave a lot to be desired although there have been a few with good points too.
I'm glad we have the owners we do,we are very lucky to have them and if push comes to shove,I'm glad Pulis is the manager too, thats only what I think and I'm quite sure other won't agree.

Because it's my club! I went to my first game with me mum in 1969, and (Spit Spit) I was a manure fan, because mum was! But I was very young, and I can remember going into the stand, and seeing that massive green expanse, and more importantly, Banksy in goal! From that day to this, they've been my club, and even though I feel like tearing what I've got left of my hair out at times, then I'll always be a Stokie come what may!
Let stick it to the southern fairies tomorrow!!! Goaaarn Stoke!

Genuine question.. Expecting a lot of different answers but, why do YOU watch Stoke City?so it's just a genuine question yet when people answer it you first tell them they actually go for entertainment (because no-one had bitten at that point) and then when someone mentions it just become habitual you complain it's an expensive "habit" to have because it's not entertaining???? no agenda-ridden, leading question your honour, none whatsoever.....just an honest genuine question if you really were being honest i get the feeling the thread title would have been more like "Why do the rimmers go to watch Stoke so i can hope you say entertainment then have a pop"....or was it just too many characters to be allowed?

To watch Brek Shea.
And to study how a team functions with no creativity and style in the midfield.

Its a bit of an expensive bad habit at the moment don't you think.. I wouldn't say it was a bad habit. It's the only time i really get to see my old man, and as a kid spending that time alone with him was awesome. Certainly a lot better than watching my mum do all the housework and moaning about it!! Something I intend to rescue my son from in a few years time

Because I love live football. Because I am a born and bred Stokie. Because they are my team. Because the game is brilliant, regardless how it is played.

I have no idea, it is bred into you as a stoke fan isnt it? It is part of what makes you as a person,a sort of robotic mentality to support your team? It is certainly, for the last 18mths anyway, not for entertainment or excitement or hope (which it should be from time to time?). It has become an acceptance of drudgery almost? It really is depressing isnt it, or is it just me being known as Les Miserables by work colleagues!!!

I watch them because ever since the early 60's they have dominated my life. My Dad took me to see one of Sir Stan's last games in 1964. I moved from the Potteries in 1979 after graduating but have always had a season ticket. I even got married on a Friday in November in the 80's so that I didn't miss the Saturday fixture. I turned down promotion at work and a move to Boston USA because it would mean missing them play. My missus thinks I am an idiot. She is a Man U fan from Yorkshire, used to be a season ticket holder at Old Trafford before we met. I refuse to take her to see them so she refuses to come to Stoke with me. But when I watch the match the adrenalin rush is fantastic. There is no enjoyment in the true sense, and never has been, because even if we are winning I am worried about seeing out the 90 minutes. If we are playing well and not scoring I get nervous. It is the tension and the unpredictability that is like a drug. And going to away games especially has always been great because you felt that the fellow Stokies shared your passion and your tension, Vis Unita Fortior indeed. Unlike our home crowds, which have always tended to have their fair share of whingers and complainers; the sort who slagged off Peter Dobing, Jimmy Robertson, Steve Bould, and in latter years Mama, Glenn Whelan and Shotts. Potteries folk are no different in that respect than most other football fans. The current debate on TP is completely irrelevant to me. That's why I hardly ever post on here. I'll support them whoever is in charge, and however we play. It's my drug habit and no one will ever take it away.
