Whatever happened to our Sporting Lisbon affiliation?
Are Rudgey and Scholes still out there 'exploring' a la Stanley and Livingstone?
City Pair In Portugal Posted on: Wed 23 Apr 2008
Chief Executive Tony Scholes and Director of Football John Rudge are currently in Portugal exploring the possibility of an affiliation with European giants Sporting Lisbon.
The City pair travelled yesterday for initial talks with hierarchy at the José Alvalade Stadium regarding a deal which could see a link up at all levels from the Academy right the way through to the first team.
The Leoes (Lions) currently play in the BWINLIGA (Premier League) which they have won no fewer than 18 times, most recently in 2002, finishing as runners up in the past two seasons.
Current Manchester United stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani are just two of a number of world class players to have played for Sporting.
