"We've paid for these Season Tickets and we're bloody well usin' 'em", said me Dear Ol' Dad, just about every other Satdee morning.
So yeah, we were there v Naaaaaarrrrich (and every home game that season), as ever Boothen Paddock, right beside the tunnel wall (away end side), four and five steps down.
I don't remember the Naaaarrrrich match, to be honest ... and most of them from that season blend into 1.
Obviously, I remember the MASSIVE WIN against Manure on the Boxing Day ... You would have thought we'd won the World Cup. When they came down the tunnel, half the United team stunk of ale. Me dad turned to his mate Rich (bless him, now he has gone) and said, "Bloody 'ell, Rich - We might stand a chance yer know"
(Didn't we win at Sheffield Wednesday; rather than when they came to us? I have no memory at all of our 3rd win???)
I'd say "Happy Days", but - generally - they weren't. They were soul destroying. I think only the rose-tinted glasses of a certain-age make them seem better than they were.
