I conclude I must be living in a parallel universe .....because from where I was sitting Whelan was abysmal. Mind you he shouldnt feel bad about that as he had plenty of company.

Please elaborate on which part of his game was abysmal today? Granted his set pieces were mediocre but then they always have been, that's a management issue. I drea to think what sort of abuse Whelan would be getting on here had he played like N'Zonzi.

I agree that Shotton had a good game. But there were a few times when he was absolutely skinned for no real reason. Shotton had a fairly decent game overall aside from a few glaring schoolboy errors. The difference with Shotton is he gets a fully vocal verbal choreography from the touchline, every single game! Tony clearly doesn't trust him to use his own footballing judgment....and quite frankly, neither do i! Tone's dictating leaves a lot to be desired too! There were times you could clearly hear Tony yelling at him to 'run up' when i was yelling at the TV for him to pass....then he gets dispossessed!

Whelan? - lacking in creativity, touch, passing, set piece ability .....just everything you might be looking for from a midfielder really. You are absolutley right about N'zonzi though, he was dire - he is showing every sign of following the downhill spiral he went on at Blackburn.

A typically awful, witless away performance devoid of ambition. Didn't string a move together in 90 minutes, and the onlt 2 shots on target were the penalty and the chance Senderos gifted to Crouch. Abject stuff. I've had enough. This. Today was the breaking point for me. It's reached a point where even though I'm watching the game, I'm watching with a complete lack of passion, and that's not how it's meant to be. He's just sucking he life out of the game and its soul destroying.

Have to disagree mate, I thought he was solid enough today. His passing was superb, 91%. People will argue "it's sideways or backwards" but his job is to recycle the ball for our more 'technically proficient' players to get the ball forward quickly. N'Zonzi who also passes "sideways or backwards" managed a miserly 72%, less than Walters

In the end we need a bit of quality and Im afraid Glen just aint got it. He cant even hit the ball like he used to be able to do. But like you say it is dead wrong to pick him out for criticism because as things stand we aint got a midfielder worthy of the name. Doubtless there will be calls for Charlie Adam but frankly he has done less than anyone to deserve a place.

One good game in a blue moon, does not make him a Premiership player. Well his "one good game" today deems your post self contradictory. So you are saying he is Premieship class because he has the odd good game? Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

That line is snazzier when Clinton says it. Whelan has proven over the course of 5 seasons he's PL class. The likes of Olofinjana, Soares, Tonge are examples of CM's proven not good enough for the PL. Whelan is up there with TP's best ever signing.

Didn't go today due to illness! Acknowledge that after an abject 1st half, we could and should have got something out of that game! Worrying thing for me was that the opposition were average at best! Inept management cost us AGAIN!!! We are a better side than he allows!

Shea looked off the pace a bit but showed enough to look like a decent signing. Shotton had a decent game at RB - don't understand Cameron ahead of Adam. Crouch was to isolated - could have been much different if Walters had buried the spot kick

Whelan was our best midfielder today if only by default, no stats needed. He played well, stop being so blinded in your hatred for certain players. One good game in a blue moon, does not make him a Premiership player. It's not one good game in a blue moon , he has played well in general this season. At least he does not hide , always gives 100% which is more than I can say for Golden boy N'Zonzi.
