What's the best quality for a fairly cheap price on studio headphones?
looked at beats, but way too expensive
Cheers

www.sennheiser.co.uk/ picked up a pair of low end price headphones made by these for about £25 when abroad recently, cracking quality and can't imagine what the sound is like on their upper end models.

AKG K41, Beyerdynamic DT 770 and Sennheiser Hd25's are the headphones that I own and can personally recommend as being great cans.
I think as far as Studio headphones go you need to spend a reasonable amount to get decent quality. My AKG's were £80 and they're classics, been around for a very long time. (you can normally find them fairly cheap on ebay)
Sennheiser are the ones I use the most though, and to be fair are easily the most popular DJ headphones as well as being very true sounding monitors.
I say all this but quite a few very good producers who have made a lot of money have built their mixes on very shitty equipment, like £10 headphones from Tesco or something. At the end of the day it's just about getting used to whatever you use and knowing it's faults so you can tweak around them.
Beats are fucking awful though, I wouldn't buy them.

Superlux are the new giant killers and the best value headphones ever made. For £30 these bad boys are taking the pro studio world by storm. I have a pair of Superlux HD330's and they sound better than some £400 Beyerdynamic and AKG pro headphones i've listened too. Hard to track down but incredible headphones that redefine the cost/quality standard for professional studio cans. www.amazon.co.uk/Superlux-HD668B-Headphones/dp/B003JOETX8/ref=pd_cp_ce_0Failing that i'd get the Sennheiser HD25s. Way more xpensive though and not quite as good as the 330's or the 668b's - and I have used these Sennheisers for 10 years and really rate them.

Heres another review. They really are incredible for the money. In the review the guy compares them to high end Grado's! www.headfonia.com/the-new-superluxes-are-good-the-hd330-hd440-and-the-hd660/2/If you can track down the Superlux HD330, that's the pair i'd really recommend - the bass is just massively huge. The iconic Superlux 668B's are true studio monitors. They are quite bright but have an incredibly detailed soundstage and for the money there is nothing that gets even close to Superlux price/performance in my experience. They are a genuine bargain. If you need buds i'd totally recommend JVC's Extreme Explosives for £20. Very loud, detailed and massive fat bass! Ive not heard anything better under £250, including my mates Bowers & Wilkins! I think they sell them in Asda too. I have a FiiO E11 portable headphone amp that I use with my iPod and the sound I get is astonishing either with the Superlux or the JVCs. Just strap it to your iPod and away you go.

They look amazing. I'm not gonna buy anymore headphones though, I'm too used to my current setup. And I've had a pair of those JVC earbuds before, they do have a nice fat sound to them... just a shame that they broke after a couple of months. For £20 they're a good deal though.
Loving the Metalheadz logo in your sig btw.

I got mine in Hong Kong and I wouldn't have a clue about getting hold of 330's in the UK. If you plan to use them with an iPod you will need a small portable headphone amp to drive them. The FiiO E11 is a great little choice for that. You will love these cans, I promise you.

Junglist>> I know what you mean. The only place I could find was an eBay seller in Surrey : brand new, unopened, still boxed. Other than that it was a company in Germany that wouldn't have them in again until march 12th I'll be putting them into a 12 track mixer so i don't think I'll need the E11 will I? Cheers again mate

If anyone else is after the 330s you can get them from Thomann (I guess this is the German store mentioned earlier). They're good though and deliver quickly - bought a bit of stuff from them before.
