YTS air conditioning engineer July 1989 for £29.50 a week. Most kids left school to work at 16 back then. Clayton High tried to fix me up with either Wedgwood, Royal Navy, or the NCB. Never any thought to encourage sixth form attendance.

caddy at trentham golf club, £5 per round which in the early eighties wasn't too bad if you could put up with being spoken to and treated like a slave. my first proper job when i left school was at hem heath starting off with training at kemble pit, which was situated where the harvester by the brit is now. considering at the time my mates were on £26 per week on YTS schemes im not going to divulge my pay packet or the usual suspects will be on here telling me its no wonder the events that soon followed happened. lets just say it was a handsome sum for a 17 year old but unfortunately as everyone knows it couldn't last

Paper boy for Dillons in Wolstanton 17'6d a week (87.5p). When Ron Procter took over went up to £1 because he paid double time for Sunday round. That was in 1965-67. Then worked at Dewhurst Butchers in Hanley and got princely sum of 30/= (£1.50) but had to pay daily bus fare of 6d return from Wolstanton to Hanley until I got a push bike. Joined the navy in 69 first pay packet was £3 a fortnight ( it was actually £6 but half was put away for a lump sum when you went on leave so you could pay money to your mum for board).

Helping Sid the bread van man deliver bread on Eaton Park on Saturdays when I was about 11 or 12 for 50p.
First adult job was in '77 as an apprentice fitter with the NCB for £30 a week, after tax and board I was left with £24 all to myself, it was a fortune ;D
After a short while they bought in the bonus scheme which doubled the wage of some apprentices, added a fair bit to mine too, it was pretty obvious then, even to me, it was unsustainable.

I use to do two sunday paper rounds for £5 each and sold programmes at Bradford Northern/Bulls on a matchday.
My first full time job after college was as a trainee chef on £65 a week in 1997. I Still think about that when i hear these lazy bastards whinging that its not worth them working for minimum wage nowadays.Cheeky twatters.
