He has at least 3-4 years left as a top keeper. I watched the video of our first season in PL over Christmas and Sorro was one of the reasons we stayed up that year. IMO let Beggo go for a nice profit re- instate Sorro as first choice with Butland as his very capable apprentice giving him the odd game in PL and Cup competitions. I know Butland wants regular games but he still has loads to learn as goalie and who better to learn from. Will also keep Sorro on his toes. The future is bright for our goalkeepers, a position we have always maintained since I started watching them 50 years ago.

We've always been blessed with good 'keepers haven't we? For some reason, there's a spell in the 1990s that's missing from my memory ;D

I fondly remember Roger clearing the ball off the line (the bloody halfway line that is!) he played further up the pitch than most of our forwards do now

For all his flops, Tone can certainly pick a keeper.
Crossley, Sorro and Bego. Three of our best ever.

It's a real struggle with goalkeepers - you end up with that bloke from Sunderland who was on the bench once before he went back or Steve Banks.

Harsh on Fulop, he looked good in the warm up before the game and at half time.

Then again it could be ten years before he's "mature" enough for Tone

I was chuffed to bits when we brought in Sorensen.
Still a top level keeper and could do a decent job for someone. Unfortunately for him, Bego on his day is world class, so theres a reason why Sorro cant get a look in, its a real shame but thats what happens I guess.

Would any prem team not swap their keepers for ours - I doubt it
Agree with LawrieLeslie - time has come to cash in on Bego (£12m +), we should aim to keep Sorro as I think Butland and him could rotate for the next couple of seasons.
Would be disappointed to lose Bego and Sorro as I think bringing in a replacement to sit on the bench (but be capable when called on) would be difficult - we've been v lucky with Sorro

The Sentinel don't need to write a new story, they could just use last years or the one before that or the one before that ............................

Butland has clearly got potential and the makings to be a great keeper but he is not the finished article he might think he is. Many young keepers have fallen into mediocrity doing this. Chris Woods was probably the best example when he refused to understudy Shilton at Forest at the age of 19. He went to QPR but in a 20 year career never cut the mustard with a big 4 team. Yes he did play over 40 games for England but at a time when we were bereft of decent keepers between Shilton/Clemence and the emergence Of David Seaman. Even he wasn't that good IMO.

I believe that Asmir will be sold at the end of the season - there are several "bigger" clubs in need of an upgrade in the GK role.
I would like to see Tommy stay at Stoke for at least one more season to help Butland establish himself as a future top GK, however it is unfair for him to be expected to sit on the bench for the majority of the time. I'm sure he would prefer to be playing all of the time elsewhere.
If both Asmir and Tommy move on then we need a goalkeeper with some experience to be added to the squad.
Money will dictate the outcome and Stoke will not sell Asmir ar a bargain price imo
