It will be sad day when he does leave the club, the man is legend. I hope he does return one day to be a coach at the club, although I reckon he could make a superb manager (and not a replacement for TP ;D). And what a model pro! Want's to carry on playing on football and not looking down on Barnsley.
I think a few of the so called "top class players" could learn something from Rorys attitude.

I wish we could keep him on. He's TP's natural heir.

Putting aside the Delap 'love-in' and the grossly exaggerated appraisal of a very average player by Premiership standards he will be more remembered for his arms than his legs , if one ignores the broken leg soon after he arrived.... A model professional footballer who has never the less made the most of his very limited abilities, and will find it increasingly difficult to hold down a place in any championship side. Personally , I think he should have just retired quietly and gracefully rather than risk unfair criticism for a footballer of his age.

I think Rory was more than just an very average player in our first 3 seasons in the Prem. His throws unfairly overshadowed his other work on the pitch. Admittedly he has tailed of in the last couple of years, naturally because of age and injuries.

Surely this would be the ideal 150th celebration game now. Against anybody, it doesn't matter but focusing on a farewell to Ric in the main , Rory and Liam and Abdy and a few others that we never had chance to say goodbye to.
Stoke V a Select Stoke. There is no better way to celebrate the past than appreciating the current, it would certainly have more meaning than a nothing game against Real Madrid who would charge half a bar just for turning up.

I suggested this weeks ago, it would be brilliant. There've been a few players who've just ghosted out of the club that deserve a better send off better than what they've got. Simmo ? Faye ? Higgi Lawrence Delap ? Cresswell Mama Fuller I suppose Cort and Griff could fill the void but I'd want to find better.

You've got Lou as well bayern and that mob of fabulous players (Steino, Vinny, Cranny) etc that would literally tear the house down. Got to be worth a think for the Supporters Council or whatever it's called now? The wider Sky92 football community don't give a fuck about our 150th so we may as well enjoy ourselves!

Surely Tuncay instead of Cresswell (the crowd would want to be entertained) Think Pennant might have a fair shout of being in this side too if, as expected, hes sold in the summer!

Get Hoekstra down for the game, he would probably only play a section of the game but..... that would a great to see.

Got to be worth a think for the Supporters Council or whatever it's called now? No one else give a fuck about our 150th so we may as well enjoy ourselves! And Pejic still plays in some charity games. Have a huge squad, rolling subs, current lot vs the rest. And then around that build a day of it with a funfair, barbecues and that sort of shenanigan. And roll out the proper old uns with the rest for a trundle around the pitch and our heart felt applause. Make it as cheap as possible so as many people turn as we can get and I'm guessing it wouldn't cost that much to cover costs relative to other friendly game suggestions. Family tickets etc. Sorted.

He did play half a season for us in the promotion season and never got a send off. Dicko should play left back too, he was very good for us in the promotion season.

I was there when Rory broke his leg in the Sunderland game. The club honoured the transfer and by God Rory has repaid that faith. He is a fucking legend. we havent a clue what to do with throws now. We used to launch them in and score...now we just toss it to the other team Cheers Rory

I think that would top any other idea so far, especially making a mystery game (i.e. inevitably Man Utd) a special 150th anniversary game. A week after the end of the season or something.
My only half thought is that some players may not want to come back and some clubs might be unwilling to release them?

I think Hoefkens might be a good shout for right back, if only so we could see TP throw his water bottle again. ;D

Current players always seem to be involved in testimonials so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue. Not exactly great PR for a club if they refuse to release players for a charity match?
