So nobody else could take over and do a better a job ever? What would happen if Tony retires, we just cry and inevitably get relagated? I disagree. You have to progress, we are evidently regressing. If you have come away positively over the last few weeks and think that we are progressing then you are a better man than me.
People are grateful that is not the issue. Please read more carefully what the criticism is about!!
We had players totally confused about their roles tonight in unfamiliar positions and looking p**sed off at Tony after 5 years of building the squad. Unacceptable. We shat ourselves against WIGAN about the formation they would play (Kempy said as much on the radio). Unbelievable. We settled for a draw and should have lost at the end and if you cannot understand why people are so frustrated then fair enough, you are entitled to your opinion, but so is everybody else.

You would rather see Stoke fail than Pulis WTF are you on, he has done a fantastic job with huge financial backing from the Coates family, could another manager have done the same given those circumstances possibly or possibly not we may never know the answer, has he wasted a fourtune on players that do not fit his system, I would say he has and now as a club we are paying for it. Hopefully TP will stay at the club in some capacity, however I think we need an alternative view that will be listened to regarding how we play and where these players are utilised for the good of the club.

So if somebody does well at some point, it exonerates them from criticism in the future when they make mistakes.
Ok.

I actually hope that if Tony is forced out or left of his own accord that he goes on to manage another Championship side that passes us by on our way back into oblivion. Karma. For me I will always be grateful You see I remember a conversation that I had with my mate in 2002 who I have been going with since the seventies. I will never see Stoke play In the Premiership I will never see Stoke play in an FA cup final I will never see Stoke play in Europe

Blind Optimist, more like. Until that match today, I have supported TP through thick and thin. Now, after sitting through one of the worst, most inexplicable, frustrating games I've seen in ages, I'm just bloody seething. Even I've had enough and god knows in the (recent) past I have defended him as robustly as anyone on here. (Except perhaps you). Then again, my dad died last week so I'm not in the best of form.

Optimist...Let me ask you a question.
Had Tony Pulis resigned after the Cup final and a new manager come in, spent 40m over 2 seasons and produced what TP has done over the last 15 months, how would you feel then?
Chances are you would be arguing that the new manager had undone all of Pulis' good work and should be held accountable or even sacked.
How long can Pulis dine out on promotion and the Cup Final when he has clearly lost the plot and under-performed for what will effectively be 2 successive seasons?
Answer honestly if you can?

Exactly, its about respect, like the respect that he showed for this club when he came out at half time after his mother had died and lifted them to win 3-2. With some of the comments on here I honestly wonder whether some of the posters have followed the journey of supporting Stoke through the heady days at the top of the old division 1 to the depths of division 3. I never thought we could get back here. The treatment he has received on this board is indicative of the modern culture.
Clueless indeed!

I fully expect you to back track like a polotician but that OP was a complete disgrace. Hang your head in shame I stand by every word because I honestly feel that bloke has been treated with nothing but disrespect of late and if anybody honestly thinks that he hasn't got the best interest of the club at heart then they are fools. So thats you reasoning for wanting the club to sink into oblivion? You sad deluded fool.

There is a lot of of ungratefulness that is true. Hope he doesn't leave though, and if he does I certainly hope we dont get relegated - you are making the man bigger than our club.
I think we all knew that when we went on a 4 or 5 game bad streak, the knives would be out - rather predictable too.
Great manager and team and they will quieten thier critics as they always do.

The OP is a kneejerk reaction in the complete opposite direction to most of the knee jerk posts on here tonight.
Do many people honestly thinking sacking the manager now is the best thing to do? Surely they can see the summer is a better option for everyone involved (except maybe the fans).
One thing pulis certainly will do is ensure this club gets the points needed to be here next season, a new manager adds a certain risk to the next 4 months I don't think I'm willing to take.
Remember how much we laughed at wolves...

Dave, congratulations, i couldnt add to that. On a separate point only TP could turn a night where he tried something different and it was working into an unmitigated disaster with players looking like they had given up on him. The substitutions astonished me as the two players we have who are comfortable on the ball were removed, players verbally abusing the manager. Total shambles and now he talks about signing five players, maybe the players showed what they thought about it all and had hints that was what was going on. Jesus Christ

A fair point, but the European campaign that followed would also have been considered progress and our current standing of 10th despite poor form is not bad. Add to that five years of receiving the 50 million for being in the premier (People always miss that bit out when talking about how much he has spent) Now let me ask you a question back, if you were a close friend or relation of Tony and you came on this board and read some of the comments from some of our more enlightened brethren such as Jarhead, Puglsley, etc what would you think, honestly?

A European Adventure where TP surrendered arguably one of the biggest games in the clubs entire history????
The "turning up after his mum died" argument pisses me off as well. Why?
Well I lost my dad on the same day that we played Villa but I turned up to the game as well and I turned up from the very start, not at half time.
I don't want a medal for doing that but TP is paid handsomely for doing his job and he doesn't deserve special praise for turning up to do his job whatever the circumstances.
I am grateful and respectful of the job he has done but the last 2 summers and the football that has followed has been nothing short of shocking.
The lack of full-backs is now reaching "gross incompetence" levels and is beyond a joke. Today was a complete and utter shambles and in the context of my initial reply, I don't see how anyone can argue.
Were it any other manager, there would be protests outside the main entrance as we saw for the likes of Mills, Ball, Little and Kamara.
