First half was ok, we were playing quite well. Adam and Crouch looking far more at ease. Wigan looked terrible. Second half. Took best players off. Played like we were down to 9/10 men. Couldn't pass. Couldn't defend. Wigan looked like Barcelona. Unfortunately the defending was shocking all the way through. Just what has happened to our solid team? Very worrying and I'm not sure if new recruits will make any difference. I agree. First half Adam looked to be playing in a far better position for him, Ethers beat a couple of defenders for the first time in ages, but I wasn't sure about the back 3. When Stam came on in the second half he pushed forward and Ethers couldn't cope with it. I thought that we would bring on Wilko and revert to a back 4 and couldn't understand why we didn't?? Walters still running his socks off, Crouchie, unfortunately, just isn't happening at the moment. (I know he scored, but that was a tap in after a great driving run from Adam.) I like the look of Whitehead at full-back against Palace and was surprised he wasn't used there tonight after Ethers was being outrun. Bego couldn't do much against the goals, but let's have faith. Tony has kept us in the Premier League for 5 years now, but we aren't a top 4 team! Let's be realsitic. We will finish between 8th and 15th each year and our priority is to stay up - Ask Villa about that. They have never been out of the Premier League and look at them now. Be happy with what we are and what we have. Yes, we can dream, so let's stay together and get behind the lads.

37% possession, at home? No corners won? Come on guys, you are better than that. Let's do Arsenal on Saturday!

A late post I know on this thread, but I couldn't of posted last night with a clear mind. We've played Wigan before and struggled with their formation when they play 3 at the back. So massive credit last night for Pulis for matching them up in that respect and I thought for the first 50 minutes we were cruising, 2-0 up and I thought we looked comfortable. I think after they scored we looked like a team who were low on confidence then. But what sealed it were the subs. I thought Adam was having a decent game, he was allowed more of a free role and some things didn't come off that he tried, but it was good to see him having the confidence back again. Once he went off then we lost that extra body in midfield with a bit more guile. I have no idea what TP was thinking to drop SJW back in to centre midfield though. Once Wilko came on I fully expected us to go 4-4-2 with walters/whitehead/whelan/ethers making up the midfield 4. Frankly the formation that worked so well for 50 minutes turned into a mess in the second half. Once TP made the changes, he brought on players that couldn't fit into that formation. Wilko to right wing back? SJW in to centre mid? We should have gone back to basics when it was clear at 2-2 that we were struggling. You could visibly see players looking over to the manager to understand what they were supposed to be doing. But I will say it worked well first half and the mistake TP made was keeping that system for the second half when he started to change players and clearly some of them seemed clueless what to do. Worst of it though was seeing the players visibly losing their fight and not pressing the ball. Just a quick mention to the ref, who was a real stickler for making them take their freekicks in the correct place, ironically the one he didn't pull them up for when they took it quickly a good 10 yards from the offence and they go down the other end and score to make it 2-1. However we should be switched on more from free kicks and this last few games have seen us be a bit lax in that respect.

Its great we have opinions but I do feel we are really struggling at the moment. How many shots did their keeper have to save/no corners. Yes the substitutions seemed very strange. But lets look at both teams - we could never with the players we have pass and move so sharply as Wigan did. Do we ever give the players a ball at training an say have 30 minutes on your own - I doubt it. Tony has worked on hard work and graft not quality as well. Sorry I am not one to be happy with mid table every year and watch no football being played except by the opposition. Tony has no variation in his play so now people know our style we are becoming easy opposition. New players please quickly.

cannot understand why we pay millions for players and have them sitting on the bench or playing out of position.. i hear all the talk of "look how far we have come" but in all honesty where are we going ? First 50mins last night was a real pleasure to watch but why take Adam off and not Wheelan. Put Wilko on and play Walters in midfield ? Etherinton was out on his feet after having to cover the whole of our left side almost single handed. Mr Coates may have some serious thinking to do, from comments heard from all sections of the fans TP may have lost a lot of support following his Tactical changes ???
