Louise is it? Hello Listen, I can't account for the things people say about Andy or, in fact your opinions but I can say what I think here. In a world where footballers and their wives like to think themselves above everyone else it's something special to be able to have conversation with you on here. Over the years, this board has been responsible for some pretty amazing things - bringing all sorts of people, all over the World, together in the way Stokies do so well and I think it's unique. In the past we've had reaction directly from the board of directors based on the feelings of supporters via this message board, we've had comments passed by management and even players in the past so it shows how powerful this board can be at times. Then again, it's also been a forum that has divided opinions, friendships and loyalties which can be sad to see. For you to post your thoughts and feelings on here the way you have done, openly and honestly with pride and passion in both your Hubby, the club and Stoke on Trent is worth sitting up for and taking notice. You're support and loyalty to the club and city we all love so much is fantastic, especially in your position as wife to our club's 1st team captain! Andy Griffin has played professional football at one of the highest levels which shows how good he really is. He' scored one of the best goals at the Britannia Stadium and has put in some sublime performances for this football club, so even if you are a Stokie and even if he does love the club, whatever, the fact remains he deserves ALL our support and accreditation - just for being a player and for being Griff! We've always spoken very fondly of Andy Griffin over the years playing for Stoke, Newcastle etc and when he came back to us - we were all delighted. I'm conscious of negative feedback by the MINORITY getting to both you and Griff and that's not fair and unwanted. Some of the comments (whilst people are entitled to them) have been wrong. (Time and place) and I'm sorry for them to be honest. So, I'd like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to you Mrs Griff.... For your support - for your belief - for your love of the very same thing we love - for Andy Griff and for speaking with us Stokies. We're all nervous for a very good reason as this could be the biggest thing to EVER happen to Stoke City FC - SO much depends on it. Thank Griff for the part he's playing and thanks for acting exactly like this clubs motto suggests - Strength in Unity. I'm really proud to be a Stokie! Mac

Fully agree. I have criticised but he'll probably be the first to admit that he has been bang out of form in some important matches, but that is something every player goes through. Im going through a bad patch myself at the moment which is unheard of!! Fully appreciate his work, it lies on himself and Pulis to work through this patch which I know he will, we just want the team to do well.

Not offering excuses for performances here but if anyone plays football they'll know that poor indiviual performances can be a result of a collective team performance and especially - tactical positioning and placement with the team.
ie: Would you play Cort upfront? Would you play Cressie on the left? Would you play Griff centre back? Would you play Ric 1st or 2nd half?
Anyone ever had a bad day at work? Did anyone ever call for you to be sacked or replaced?
Some harsh comments at a time they're just not needed.

That's all well and good PMAc, but it doesn't devaite from the fact that Griffin is a self-serving mercenary who should never have been given the chance to wear the shirt again after his duplicitous behaviour, let along be given the captains armband.
This club (the one he supports, purportedly) got him back playing football, back in the limelight, rebuilds his confidence and then offers him what would have been unquestionably a decent contract which he shook hands upon*. He decided to repay that faith shown in him by his hometown club by fucking off to Derby because they said that they would pay him more money. That's the sort of human being he is, and if you want to happy-clap him, then fine and in essence i agree with Mrs Griffin's sentiments.
It doesn't however excuse the cuntish behaviour of her husband, a statement i would be glad to make to his face. Wilkinson is a better prospect, a better a player and i hope that Griffin never wears the shirt again. He doesn't fucking deserve to.
* see 1STEINO's "interview" with Tony Scholes. It came straight from the horse gobblers mouth.

Well said PMac. Bad form recently and so Wilko deserves a chance, thats teh whole point of having a competitive squad but no doubt Griff will come back strong and get back to top form...playing him at LB might help

We'll miss Griff's forward runs, which is something that Wilko or Riggott won't do as well.
He may love Stoke City, but he is a professional footballer. He had the opprtunity to play at a higher level for more money. Can you honestly blame him for having a go? Put yourselves in his position in your own job. Surely if you don't have a crack at it you're lacking ambition, and if you make it as a top pro footballer, you've got that will to win and do better ingrained into your soul.
Finally, to GriffsMrs, your sentiments are excellent, and some of us have always been balanced and positive on here. But take it from me, however reasoned or impassioned your argument is, there will always be somebody on here ready to have a go and knock you down.
Careful what you type.

Thankyou Pmac, much appreciated, I know that players will get some stick on places like this, and if its about the game fair enough, but why do some get so personal? Vestanpance is sooo wrong about the summer there was no agreement or handshake but i said all that at the time and it is old news. An old Chinese classic text says:-
"Those who know do not speak, those who speak do not know"
I will leave those words for some to consider!
COME ON STOKE!

The days of "loving clubs" have long gone , and that's purely because of money, if someone's offered double their money , they're going to take it aren't they.
Griffin is a top professional ,and you can see why Tone chose him as captain, but he isn't the right man for that Right back slot AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME.
Fact is , he hasn't been playing well enough to warrant a place along with Pugh, the two full backs HAVE been pretty poor in all honesty and whenever the two young lads come in they do one hell of a good job, BETTER in fact .
I DO believe that Andy Griffin has been suffering from an injury since he came back, because a player cannot simply go from super to poor within a space of a few months, his form will hopefully resurrect in time for when we we make the premiership, when he will probably be leading us out against the likes of Manure and Arse-nal.
I do feel sorry for Dicko and Wilko, ESPECIALLY Dicko , of whom has to put up with watching that comedian Pugh every saturday, in every match i've seen Dicko play in he has been 10 times better than Pugh, he can actually kick a ball further that 5 yards!!
I have been harsh on Griff, but it's because of his form last year and how fucking brilliant he was compared to now,i can understand if Lewis Buxton comes on and lets left wingers rip him to shreds, but not him.

But we all have to say, Louise Griffin, has made an important point in that statement (at bbc co uk link): it's all about having faith and hope now. Stoke have a good team, otherwise we haven't been on our way to the Prem. Think positive, think Stoke, no matter what.
Of course we could we should have the right to express what we feel about the manager, the players etc., but somehow I think positive thinking is good, and that positive energy can be transformed to the players in some strange way.
I admit I have criticised some players during the season, including Griffin. But, I've also seen him having a couple of terrific games. Can't see ALL games on tv unfortunately, but it has been a bunch this season thankfully!
A wish ALL the players and Tony the best!

Just reading this message board alone whilst ignoring comments at matches, it makes you wonder how we're doing so well!
Simo, Griff, Cort, Delap, Lawrence, Fuller, Sidibe, Cresswell, Zakuani, Parkin, Nash, Eustace, Whelan and Bothroyd have all played their parts and most of them MAJOR parts in our good season. They are all being managed by a manager who (some would say is clueless!) and yet despite ALL the above players being attacked on here (at some stage) we are still enjoying our best season for ages!
I guess there must be about 100,000 Stoke fans, obviously lots don't actually go but then lots that write stuff on here or phone the radio don't actually go, its just a shame that a dozen negatives seem louder than 1000s of positives
DO IT STOKE JUST DO IT

It's human nature to want to have a nosey what people have written about you, but once you start trying to defend yourself (either directly or by proxy) on internet messageboards, it never looks good.
I think Griff and Mrs would be better off treating the shit that gets spouted on here for what it is...a load of mainly ill-thought out twaddle.
Rise above it and don't get involved...that way you're guaranteed to keep your dignity.

I'm sure Griff would be delighted just like the rest of us if we went up, but that doesn't alter the fact he looks slow and has been a bit of a weak link down the right recently. He was poor against Cov for example.
Nothing personal just my opinion, Mrs Griff.

I think that what also some have questioned is the length of Griffs current contract - which has been variously reported as 4 or 5 years in length. If this be true ,and given Griff's current form, then the 'criticism' is surely valid.? Whether Griff is better at left back is again debatable as he is essentially right footed. What has been noticeable this time around has been that he appears to have lost a yard of pace. This perhaps led to his mistimed tackle at QPR and his faux pas against Shff Wed.We are all so wanting SCFC to be automatically promoted that the comments become accentuated.Nevertheless they are essentially correct ? That they are frequently expressed with the f or c word is not acceptable and for that we should all say sorry to mrs griff.
If tomorrow brings the win we desperately crave then our emotions will change .If not has anyone got the phone number for the Samaritans ?

With reference to what went on in the summer, it is interesting that Mrs Griffin says openly on here that there was no 'handshake' and yet TP stated that there definately was!!
Just hope that Griff can recapture his form of old next season, but if he comes back performing as he has of late, then I see no place for him in the team
