Just heard him on radio 4 putting it up that greasy, irritating cunt Gary Richardson regarding Hazard and the ball boy.He said he couldnt believe the bbd and media in general, totally side stepping the 17 year old ball boys actions and said he would have done the same thing and that Hazard in no way kicked the ball boy but actually tried getting the ball back.I applaud him for not towing the party line and risking the wrath of the namby pamby bollocksy bbc and speaking his mind. I know hes not too popular on here but i like him.

I thought Hazard was quite restrained.
Act like a twat get treated like one.
Seems fair to me.

Let's be honest, Nevin was never going to come out and criticise a Chelsea player was he? I agree with him though, the ball boy was just as much in the wrong and got what he deserved.

I agree with him. But I wonder if he would have put up such a defence if it wasn't Chelsea. Didn't he play for Chelsea?

I reckon Pat would've taken a different approach had it been Steven NZonzi say.

If Hazard had reacted to another player holding the ball on the floor like that and kicked it out/catching the player, he would have been send off
The fact it was a juvenile youth of a ball boy doesnt make a difference to the crime, it just makes it even more petty and stupid
The kid would have wasted about 20 seconds, as it was the incident then took 2 minutes to sort out, Chelsea lost an attacking player and the game was over
Ball boys at Stoke have similar attitudes at times to opposition, throwing the ball half heartedly, not rushing to get it, sort of offering the towel - thats the home team perogative,
Kicking somebody on the floor, whether intentional or not, or no matter how frustrated you are, is a pretty poor show no matter how much of a git the ball boy was being!
I would bet on a few games ban, 4 I reckon.
Utd fans in our office want to know the difference between that and Cantona (although I have said it was hardly a studs first karate kick into the crowd lol)
Unsavoury all round though!

Richardson pointed out his Chelsea bias but i think hes pretty fair minded....he had a lot of good stuff to say about us when we played that lot,in particular the crowd.

A deliberate karate kick that could have really injured someone and others around, opposed to a little kick at a ball dont forget, not the youth......having said that i would have liked to have seen Le Grand Eric blow the cunts brains out to be fair!

I agree with Robo, although I'd also be hanging my head in shame if I was the (17 year old!) ball boy. Let's hope he eventually makes a complete recovery

Pat Nevin's main gripe on BBC Breakfast was that "the ball boy was guilty of simulation and wasn't really hurt" I wonder where he learnt that from.

I reckon Pat would've taken a different approach had it been Steven NZonzi say. Imagine Durham's reaction!!! Substitute Hazard for Shawcross, in exactly the same circumstances, and the world media would be foaming at the mouth calling for a 12 month ban. Pat Nevin included.

PN is one of the less irritating pundits, don't like Richardson, too smarmy and he doesn't mention he was the twat at the Sun putting turnips on Graham Taylors head. Mind you, any followers of rugby on here cannot be surprised at a Welsh lad lying over the ball to slow the game down, deserved a good shoeing IMO!

i remember when we played Everton a couple of years back, he was on MOTD 2 moaning about our holding at corners until they showed Fellani at it and he suddenly shut up. Hes the most biased pundit on telly. As others have said, if any Stoke player had done this he would be leading the calls for a life time ban and a prison sentence

Hazard did kick/assaulted a child. Fact.
Try that in the street, try it if you work in a school/college/training organisation/ any workplace/on the terraces
Just because you wear a football shirt doesn't/shouldn't mean you get treated any differently.

Nevin is WRONG and biased as he always is.
Why is it ok for a Chelsea player to kick someone, whether a player, a ball boy.
I can't do that on the street, in a school, on a pitch, so why can he?
Just because the ball boy is in the wrong does that merit kicking him!
Fact: Nevin always backs Chelsea, if it was a Stoke player he would not do the same.

Some of you people are unbelievable Jeff
Whether he is trying to kick the ball from under him, or whether the kid was taking the piss by wasting time, Hazard has NO RIGHT to kick out like that!
As others have said, if you did that to a child at school (as a teacher) or in the street the old bill would be at your house very quickly for assault!
Rightly or wrongly, thats the world we live in!
As for 'he had it coming' - crikey, I hope others dont think the same the next time you goad or celebrate near the opposition fans at a game and get coined, or punched, or attacked (as you 'had it coming')
If Stoke City were 10 minutes away from a cup final and were playing the European Champions who were all over you, and the ball came near me I would piss about with it, throw it backwards in the crowd to waste time (would it be OK for Hazard to run into the crowd and assault the fans?)
Or if Sorro/Bego pissed about with the ball for a goal kick (which they do frequently when we are winning! Goal kicks take forever as they switch sides, line it up, check the divot etc) - would it be OK for Hazard to go over and push the keeper over, grab the ball as set it up?
No is the answer, timewasting is part of the game and the privilege of the team winning the game - Chelsea themselves were guilty of it in the CL semi final in Barca, and everybody cheered them for doing it...didnt see any player assaults from Xavi, Ineista, Messi....

I'd want our ball boys to take as long as possible with 10 minutes to go in a hugely important match. The unwritten rule when ball kids are being "a bit of a dick" is you stand there smiling but slightly exasperated, and wait for them to give up, or wait for someone to intervene. I reckon Hazard's shin pad would have given the youth a decent enough knock for him to actually think "that actually hurt, bastard". If I was that kid, I'd be thinking "Fucking get in, I won us the league cup". If he's given the ball back and Chelsea had gone on to nab a goal with a few minutes left, anything could have happened.

My take:
The ballboy is 17 years old FFS.
The way he was squirming around on top of it was A, laughable/unbelievable and B, a clear attempt at gamesmanship
This cant be proved but Im sure that:
Hazard was trying to kick the ball from under him Hazard knew he'd probably get a piece of the ballboy in the process Ashley Williams knew Hazard was trying to kick the ball from under him but acted like a cock The ballboy didn't feel much pain and milked it beyond belief
If it was my son, Id have gone mental in the heat of the moment as Id have my red mist football/blinkered parent head on. Id probably think that my 17 year old young man of a son had acted like a bit of a tool in the first place and then like a big girl for milking the moment and appealing to the ref! Id still be taking the piss out of him, especially given his cousin joined the forces at this age.
Back to the incident:
Hazard was probably right to get a red card, as farting is worthy of such a punishment in today's game.
It is just the typical finger pointing, mock indignation wank that goes on in all facets of football.
I really admire Swansea (Laudrup is a class act all round) and have a strong dislike of Chelsea but I cant help but feel that this is embarrassing for Swansea more than it is an outrageous act of battery from Chelsea/Hazard.
Wish they'd all grow up.
I agree with Pat Nevin on this, even though I find him to be an irritating shitweasel.
Im beginning to cultivate a strong dislike of Ashley Williams.
Imagine if it had have been a Stoke ballboy! the country would be wanting him shot and it would be just another example of Tony Pulis' anti-football.

Still the ball boy went to the Chelsea dressing room with his dad to sort this out after the game and all the anger and misunderstanding was sorted and forgotten, no charges are to be bought.
.........................
Just hope his dad can get back to concentrating his mind on his day job,
Swansea club chairman, allegedly
a 17 year old ball boy FFS Tweeting that he was going to waste time before a ball was kicked We ought to remove the ball boys so the game can keep flowing when a ball goes out of play from now on, cheating little twat deserved all he got and more
