Down in Swindon for a couple of days on business.
Watched their equivalent to Central Soccer Night down here last night.
Who should pop up as the guest former player but none other than the 'black pearl' himself Mr Carl Saunders!! He's filled out a bit, I can tell you!
The programme was completely dominated by Bristol City, and their plans for the Prem. Mmm, a little premature methinks.
Anyway the dozy bint presenting asks Carl for his prediction for Sat at the end of the programme. She was gobsmacked when he said:
"I think Stoke will win, 2-0"
"Why do you say that" says a nervous presenter (thinking , how the hell am I gonna explain that to the irate Bristol City fans).
"Stoke are my home club, I was there for 8 years, and they'll always be in my heart!!"
Fantastic stuff!!
Then I remembered that he went to Bristol Rovers after he left us, and it all made sense! Mind you it was great to hear him back us. Good luck to him.

Definately was a Brummie, Joe. Have a blast in NY fella, just read you were there.
To be fair Saunders had a pretty poor strike record but then went through a purple patch but sadly got injured v West Brom the week before the Coventry FA Cup game- did play but was obviously strugglung. Did like him though, for a while under Mick Mills we threatened to go up

I used to live in the same street as Carl Saunders in Burslem believe it or not.
How things have changed, a footballer living in a terraced house.
