Shame we cant find a coaching role that would satisfy his needs and play him in the U21's as a mentor. He obviously wants first team football at championship level and perhaps one last promotion. Must come back at some point i hope in that coaching role because there is no player more synonimous with not the integrity of the club but also its success over the last few years. It will be a sad day if Rory leaves SCFC. You can't have too many model pros around the place as examples to our up and coming players. We can .....and have. !!

Mama is halfway out of the door. Rory looks like he is on his way. What is the status of Nash? These are the players who set the tone (excuse the pun) that brought about the ethos that TP values. I don't really see the likes of Owen, Crouch and Upson setting the same tone.

Problem is in modern day football; the better quality players tend to lack that professionalism so it will be interesting to see how TP rises to this challenge.

March4......We have far better potential coaches than the likes of Sidibe and Delap .
Crouch , Sorro , Owen ,....
You're stuck in the past.

Rory Delap is my favourite player of the last 10 years, it will be heartbreaking if and when he leaves. A Stoke City legend and a global phenomenon.

There is more chance of Homer Simpson moving into coaching than those two. It is a big mistake to let Salif, Rory and Mama leave; one that will bite us in years to come.

How many times do you see old Rory in a nightclub with a bird with more fake assets than a Thai market?

Getting drunk is not the behaviour of a model pro and one of his age should know better than being caught by the world's press in such a state. I imagine he received a hefty fine from TP; has he started a game for us since?

Always thought he was a super player. Never mind the the throw in's. Terrific athlete. Could read a game. Always popped up in the right place.
He couldn't do what George Best did; or Wayne Rooney. But then again they couldn't do what Rory Delap did either.
An absolute legend of a player. I'm going to miss him loads for the kind of man he was and is, and who played for us.
All that can be said, if he's on his way, is a heartfelt thank you.

I hope if he does sign for another club in January, that he is invited onto the pitch at our last home game before he leaves. If anyone deserves a minute's applause it is Rory - top, top, bloke.

It'd be ace if we could organise an end of season friendly and get the likes of Rory, Ric, Mama, Salif and Lawrence back together so we can send them off correctly. We haven't with any of them.

For me, as I've said many times before, it will be a very sad day for this football club when Rory Delap leaves and like Ric before him, he will take a little piece of the club with him when he goes.
With no Ric and no Rory, only Ryan Shawcross carries the torch as flag bearers for that wonderful team that secured our promotion and did absolutely everything to keep us up in that first season.
The golden trio is being disbanded. In years to come, I would hope that those 3 are revered in the same way that Smith, Conroy and Greenhoff seem to be nowadays. I know that there were others from that team of the 70's, including the great Gordon Banks, but those 3 are the ones everyone seems to talk about.

Rory Delap, absolutely fantastic player for Stoke City. The ubiquitous unsung hero. One of my favourite players. I'll be gutted when he goes, the long throw right up there with the Greenhoff Volley and The Maguire Corner.

Just listened to the interview (thanks for the link) and it should leave no-one in any doubt as to why Rory is such a fantastic player and bloke.
Where is your happy place...At home with the kids How would you like to be remembered....As a decent bloke What song sums you up...The "do ron ron" as it was the first song I had to sing at Carlisle.
How have you changed from the young YTS at Carlisle...I would like to think that I haven't.
What a bloke and what a fantastic footballer he has been for Stoke City. He wants to play so will no doubt move on in January but I hope to god that one day he returns to our club in some capacity.
He is a legend of my supporting life for sure!
I'm not gay or owt but I fucking love Rory Delap!

Crouch hating reaches a new fucking moronic low on this thread. I don't know if it's a Stoke thing or if it happens at every other club momo but I confess...I do absolutely despair at some of our fans at times. As for Rory............a great pleasure to have that the fella at my great club.

I'm not gay or owt but I fucking love Rory Delap! There's a great story about how he celebrated winning the Autoglass Trophy at Carlisle by going for a game of pool in his local pub. I also loved his Football Focus interview in his kitchen. My favourite ever player, a genuine hero and the perfect antidote to the modern day footballing wanker. On another thread today people are, correctly or incorrectly, complaining John Rudge was paid to do nothing for 14 years. If ever there's a man we should employ for the rest of his life, even if his job description is nothing more than to be a positive influence on everyone else at Stoke City, it's Rory Delap.

He came across as a really decent bloke in the interview
(if he wasn't such a good guy he could have picked Fellani up on Saturday and launched him out of the stadium)

'Fellani the Angry' versus the cool gentlemanly Rory Delap - ooh the thought makes me titter.
Rory wouldn't have to touch him to get the message across: a glance would do the trick.
"Back in yer kennel".
