Nice to see a proper pundit with actual football experience defending our Ryan after his England debut Reckons it was unfair to criticise him after only 15 minutes on the pitch Good on yer Phil. Take note Durham you bell end

He can't stand Durham so it was probably more of a case of just disagreeing with him! But yes, good to see.

Owl face Hodgson hung him out to dry Si! lets face it Sweden were getting well on top once Steve Gerrard came off. Then to bring some one on who would of been nervous(first cap an all).Plus not a single deffensive midfielder to stop the classy pass to Zlatan.he was stuck as to go to man on the ball or stick with Zlatan.People should be blaming Woy for crap timing of substitutions!

I agree with what you're saying about the timing of the substitution, but i wish Stoke fans would just admit that it was bad defending from Ryan, regardless of how long he had been on the pitch. At the end of the day if it was Cahill or Caulker who had defended that badly this board would have gone into meltdown.

He was a wanker the other week, because he dared to mention Stoke are negative.

Yes it was poor defending - in fact Mertesaker did the same thing today when Defoe left him for dead and setup Spurs opener - didnt see many Arsenal fans calling him shit non stop on twitter, Guardian comments etc though
Hopefully Roy is experienced enough to see through the hysteria and give Ryan another shot, its not like Cahill or Caulker were brilliant either (although the press gave Caulker a 7!!) - Caulker and Shawcross could be the future though given the time and experience to settle in.
The lack of midfielders is probably a bigger concern - the media kiss arse around Wilshire (who I think is fairly average) sums it up. Osman was good, Gerard good, not a lot else.
Needs a bit of steel to protect the defence - somebody like (and I apologise) a Kevin Nolan type who gets about - a better version of him if that makes sense.

I think any ex player (especially defender) will defend him, it's just the other retards that talk the loudest.
