www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-20202734Judge Martin Walsh ordered Jackson to serve at least seven years before being eligible to apply for parole. At least 7 years? 70 years would be far too lenient. This type of crime should seriously result in "throw away the key". If there's a chance in a thousand, a million, that he will re-offend then he simply should not ever be released. Personally I'd say to any parole board: "would you leave your son/daughter with him?"

Sickening but I am not one bit surprised. This country's justice system is now a fucking joke.

"Judge Walsh stressed it was likely to be "very many years, if ever" before Jackson was judged safe to be freed from prison."

Don't lock him up at all, let him go free in a wooded area and inform friends and relatives of his victims with instructions to bring your own bat.

No he's not, thankfully, but sentencing in this country is a right mess sometimes and hard to fathom.
E.g. four years for posting "let's have a riot" on Facebook (no actual rioting, just writing something on a social networking site)
six months for swimming in front of a toffs' canoe race
four months for having an armful of previous, running onto a football pitch while shitfaced and assaulting a goalkeeper
100 hrs community service for kicking the shit out of and hospitalising an entirely innocent Friday night drinker (in my local rag).
Seriously, wtf!
