Oh, we're interested in possession and shots on target stats now are we?
Unbelievable Jeff!!!!
And here's me thinking that the only stat that counts is the final score.

a couple of stats 5 wins from 33 games 0 wins from 15 consecutive league away games please tell me what manager wouldn't be sacked after a run like that? it is a truly shocking run. during that time we have played crouch up front on his own. the problem is so clear it is embarrassing. just how much longer do we have to put up with this shit? when will pulis fucking wake up? Why pick the number 33? Are you a mason or something? He won't get sacked because the Chairman trusts him and his previous record was very good. Plenty of managers have done worse so far this season. I picked the number 33 because in 33 games we've won only five? Or I could pick thre number 15 and tell you we have won 0 away games from 15. Our I could pick the number 11 and tell you we've won 1 game from 11 played this season. Not sure what point you're making.

Read my previous posts on this thread then. I have done. I still don't see where you're coming from. Well I don't go to away games (too exciting for me). I listen to the radio and then come on here after to see what people at the game are saying. It was severe doom and gloom - we will get relegated, Pulis out etc.. Listening to the radio the impression I got was that we were really poor in the first half but created enough chances in the second half to at least have drawn the game. On that basis I assumed people were over-reacting slightly. So I checked the stats... which seemed to suggest that people were in fact over-reacting. I posted them on here to see if someone could explain... I was reassured by enough posters - including some whose sanity I trust - that it was in fact as bad as they were making out so I settled for that. However, I do not recall us ever having above 50% possession in any game away from home. We did have just as many shots and just as many shots on target as they did. That's not opinion. I know you're trying to imply that I'm being selective in my choice of stats - but that's only a response to what everyone else on here is doing. As I said to you in a previous post - for many people on here results are sometimes of secondary importance. I have heard one of your fellow Mods talking down our FA Cup achievements in the 2010-11 season because we 'didn't play any big teams'. Last season we constantly had page after page of stats about our lack of possession, lack of shots etc... So I thought I would follow the trend and focus on possession stats, shots on target etc. in accordance with what everyone else is doing.

Just seems like a bit of random number... unless of course we won the 34th game in the sequence?

He's making a point.

Read my previous posts on this thread then. I have done. I still don't see where you're coming from. We used to win 1-0 but have 25% possession but that was boring. Some fans even said they would rather lose and play better football (more possession) We now get more possession but now we need to win instead of possession because possession doesn't win you games the guy who speaks of irony...please you couldn't make it up.....

Why is there never a bastarding middle ground? Why the hell can't we have both? Others seem to manage it.

Yeah but you can just as easily say, 'We're underbeaten at home in 8 months' 'We haven't lost at home against a top six side in two seasons' Or do what I was doing earlier and say 'We had more possession and just as many shots as Norwich' The point is that if the point you are making is a valid one then why is it necessary to pick and chose stats in such a way so as to paint the worst possible picture? Not a personal criticism of whoever did it... just an observation about how some people on here seem to do things. This whole post was partly a parody of that - as well as me wanting to get a more balanced opinion of what happened at the game today.

I guess because we've become accustomed to how the media present 'stats' to us ... won one in five, lost one in eight etc. etc. Whatever the stats, we were pretty poor today, as we were last week and ....

In the media statistics are generally used to persue an agenda or persuade an audience.
Used in an unbiased manner they can provide true insight.

Last week-end, I thought we were abysmal but the opposition even worse. The fact that their GK was MOTM, means that we were doing something right. That we can't beat teams with such an appalling shots-on-target record, is soul-destroying.
Yesterday, Bego was again under-worked, but we couldn't even draw. Paul is right and it's obvious to all but the one who matters, so where do we go from here? The rest of this month is too worrying to contemplate, especially as several clubs below or around us are starting to stir and believe. Please not QPR ......
