Yes....You're right there. Football and criminal law is completely out of sync and culpably corrupt. . Some would argue it always has been. It therefore follows that I am more likely to be the victor on this particular issue, if history has anything to go by....

No one should have to suffer unwarranted personal abuse at work and you or I would simply not put up with it. That's not to say that I want the atmosphere at football grounds to be sanitized because I don't. Jones was subjected to very personal and unfair abuse at Stoke (and probably lots of other places) and his opinion of us has been tainted by that , and that is a natural and understandable reaction. Most 'banter' at football matches is within the bounds of 'reasonably acceptable' standards but Jones has been through a personal hell and so has his family. He does need to react within acceptable boundaries but the man is only human.

Regardless of what the powers that be decide, I can't begin to remotely fathom your argument that Jones saying a few silly things under provocation makes him worse than a scumbag taking upon himself to attack a stranger. Regardless of position, the latter is worse than the former. Hence, you know, Dave Jones not being arrested.

How can some people accuse Kirkland of going down too easy? Warnock is a disgrace, instead of condemning the (and I use the word very loosely) "Fan", for violent mindless behavior, he shifts the blame onto the keeper for not staying on his feet. Fuckin bizarre, it really is.
Surely Warnock will be forced to retract his comments. Kirkland was clearly "miles away" and the lout took him completely by surprise, from the side.
Let's hope the FA make a statement and ban Leeds fans from the next three away games, at least. Or even make them play there next home game behind close doors. Yes it will affect the genuine fans, but it will send out a clear message that this kind of incident is not acceptable, and maybe the genuine Leeds fans will then realise that they need to have more of an influence on the "KNOBS" amongst their support, of which they have more than enough.
The problem they have is, because of their past reputation, they attract loons from all over the country, some from Stoke. I actually know of a few lads who regularly travelled to Leeds games for a ruck! and yes they are the type of people who live for this kind of group violence, because they are wankers one on one!

Have you got a link to Warnock's comments about Kirkland. The only quotes I have seen are where he called for the "fan" to be tried and given a custodial sentence. If Warnock did accuse Kirkland of going down easily he is an idiot. The gay was obviously caught completely by surprise and was lucky if he didn't suffer damage to his neck.

Sorry LP, I haven't. I have had SSN on since about 5 this morning and saw his comments on there.
He does condemn the Leeds fan and says he's embarassed, but then makes the comment about Kirkland going down 'like a ton of bricks' or similar wording.

Dave Jones, in his interview, then slates Warnock for going over to the Leeds fans at the end to clap them. An act he clearly is not impressed by, to say the least.
I for one agree. How can he thank them for their support after that?

Great, just what we need.
SSN are now showing the Stoke V QPR attack on Royce incident at our place. I wondered how long it would take before it was mentioned. Looks worse now than I remembered!!

He has been verbally hammered by fans all over the country for years and if he were a lesser man, would have certainly walked away from the game. He was understandably upset by the chanting from the Leeds majority, last night and made his feelings ( in the heat of the moment) known. He will however, probably be charged for his comments, which is sad and more a statement about the people who run our game than what he said. Good on him I say.

I do not care a shit about what people chant as it is just words. Taunting the opposition is part of the game. Murderers @ Liverpool does go a bit far though. I am not saying it is right but it doesn't bother me. Running on the pitch to smack a player though is the worse. I hope the wanker gets locked up for a very long time. On that note what punishment did our very own wanker get for twating Royce?

Not excusing the Leeds prick But Fucking hell, keeper made the most of it, saurez style He didn't see it coming. He was pushed with some force and it knocked him over. Could you not see the distress on his face? He was visibly shocked. Are you Colin's brother or perhaps his agent? Some of the shit on this thread makes me despair.

I think Dave Jones has been bottling up a lot of anger over the years and it hit boiling point last night. I can't believe he would be proud of his comments this morning, if anything he has made matters worse for himself.

But the poor bastard has had years of the shit and if it were me I would not be able to contain my anger, pretty much like how he's reacted in the interview last night. The Stoke knob by the way, was from Trent Vegas, and I believe he got a banning order and fine. He was only 17 so a more appropriate punishment was not imposed on him, "it might have affected his human rights" or some PC shit!! I don't know him by the way, I had it on good authority though. And for the people suggesting Kirkland went down too easy. I hope you are standing focusing your attention on something one day, minding your own business and the same happens to you. But you are rock hard so will be prepared for every eventuality, hey! This country.........

What makes me laugh is all the idiots coming out with "i hate leeds even more" and all this shit. We've had dickheads in the past singing songs at dave jones, and also a numpty who attacked another teams keeper, but because its leeds everyone jumps on there high horse. If the qpr manager said the same as jones did last night, at the time, everyone would be pissed and rightly so.

Taking the piss when chanting is fine and some of it can be genuinely funny. Some though goes beyond the bounds of common decency. I don't want football to become sterile but a line needs to be drawn. I've watched the footage again today and Jones is genuinely upset. No-one should be subjected to that and songs about murderers, cop killers, Munich whatever overstep the mark. The sad thing for me though is that some find it ok and acceptable. That just says it all for me.

I don't really think that the Munich chant is acceptable but it doesn't bother me because it is aimed at the despicable twats who chant about Hillsborough, Istanbul etc. They bring it on themselves. It doesn't make it right but you reap what you sow. Dave Jones gets the grief because he is a horrible twat and people will use anything they can to get under the oppo's skin. It is all banter/taunting. Yes it can overstep the mark but I just see it for what it is. I accept it and expect it so that is why I don't let it bother me.

When things are football related too many people leave their brain behind. Perhaps the most telling factor isn't that some choose to defend what they believe to be their right to sing mind bogglingy vicious things....it's that they want to chant them at all.

I'm damned sure I heard the Munich chant long before Istanbul and Hillsborough so that argument just doesn't hold water. Even if it did, how do you chant at the opposition and make it clear that you are only chanting at those opposition fans who chant about Hillsborough and/or Istanbul? Don't come out with daft excuses for evil behaviour. Most clubs have a minority of fans who are a disgrace to humanity -Some clubs have a bigger minority than others. And a majority of people do know where to draw the line - and chanting about Hillsborough, Istanbul and paedophilia (to Dave Jones) doesn't just step over the line it goes way beyond it, in the minds of the decent majority of people in this country.
